is to be made through an MSA P/N 467044 quick-discon-

2. Air pressure must be supplied to the end of the air
hose.
3. The purity of the air supply is the responsibility of the
user. The respirator is approved only when air supplied
meets the requirements of the Compressed Gas
Association Specification G-7.1 for Quality Verification
Level (Grade) D. This requires that the outlet air con-
tain no more than 10 parts per million (ppm) carbon
monoxide, not more than 1000 parts per million (ppm)
carbon dioxide, and not more than 5 milligrams per
cubic meter of condensed hydrocarbons.
AFTER USE
Follow the steps outlined in the Air Mask Operation and
Instructions Manual (P/N 10082858) for proper
removal and storage of apparatus. To disconnect the
adapter hose using the Snap-Tite quick-disconnect,
follow the steps described below.
1. Push the two sides of the quick-disconnect towards
each other firmly. (The plug end should advance into
the coupler end approximately 1/8 inch).
2. Slide the outer sleeve on the coupler end back (away
f
rom the plug) and the quick-disconnect will be ready
to separate.
3
. Pull the plug out of the coupler.
ALTERNATIVE COUPLERS
The ExtendAire I Adapter Hose Kit may be modified to
use the following plugs:
• Zinc plated steel plug, Foster series SHD
• Stainless steel plug, Foster 3 series
• Stainless steel plug, Foster series SHD
• Brass 2-way shut-off plug, Foster FHK series
• Stainless 2-way shut-off plug, Hansen series 2-HK
• Brass plug, Hansen series 3000
• Aluminum locking plug, Snap-Tite
• Stainless steel locking plug, Snap-Tite
• Brass locking plug, Snap-Tite
• Aluminum plug, Snap-Tite series H
• Brass plug, Snap-Tite series H
• Stainless steel plug, Snap-Tite series H
• Chrome locking plug, CEJN
• Brass plug, Perfecting Coupling 2A series
In order to modify the ExtendAire I Adapter Hose Kit
remove the existing Foster or Hansen plug. Remove
traces of any thread tape that may still remain. Apply
thread tape, starting at the second thread, in a clockwise
direction when viewing the thread end of the fitting one (1)
to 2 ½ times around the fitting. Tighten the plug to no
tighter than 25 ft. lbs of torque.
