Lubrication
1. Lubricatethe pivotpointsonthebladecontrolhandle
atleastoncea seasonwithlightoil. The blade
controlmustoperatefreelyin bothdirections.See
Figure10.
2. If yourmoweris equippedwith ballbearingwheels,
lubricateat leastoncea seasonwitha lightoil,all
othertypesrequireno lubrication.However,ifthe
wheelsareremovedforanyreason,lubricatethe
surfaceof the axle bolt andthe innersurfaceof the
wheelwithlightautomotiveoil.
3. Lubricatethe torsionspringandpivotpointonthe
reardoorperiodicallywith lightoil to preventrust.

instructionscarefully.
Undernormalconditionsserviceaircleaneras
instructedin the separateengine manualpackedwith
yourunit. Cleaneveryfewhoursunderextremely
dustyconditions. Poorengineperformanceand
floodingusuallyindicatesthatthe air cleanershouldbe
serviced.
Thesparkplugshouldbecleanedandthe gapreset
oncea season. Sparkplug replacementis recom-
mendedat the startof each mowingseason;check
enginemanualfor correctplugtypeandgapspecifica-
tions.
NOTE:Thissparkignitionsystemmeetsall require-
mentsof the CanadianInterference-CausingEquipment
Regulations.
5. Cleantheengineregularlywithaclothor brush.
Keepthecoolingsystem(blowerhousingarea)clean
topermitproperair circulationwhichis essentialto
engineperformanceandlife.Becertainto removeall
grass,dirtandcombustibledebrisfrommufflerarea.
Deck
Theundersideof the mowerdeckshouldbecleanedafter
eachuseto preventa buildupof grassclippings,leaves,
dirtorothermatter.If thisdebrisis allowedtoaccumulate,
itwillinviterustandcorrosion,and maypreventproper
mulching.
Thedeckmaybecleanedbytiltingthemowerandscrap-
ingcleanwitha suitabletool (makecertainthe sparkplug
wireisdisconnected).
Blade Care
__1 ARNING: When removing the
cutting blade for sharpening or
replacement, protect your hands
with a pair of heavy glovesor use
a heavy rag to hold the blade.
Periodicallyinspectthebladeadapterforcracks,especial-
lyifyoustrikea foreignobject.Replacewhennecessary.
Followthestepsbelowfor bladeservice:
1. Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplug.
2. Tip moweras specifiedinseparateenginemanual,if
itdoesnotspecifyturnmoweron itsside makingsure
thattheairfilterandthecarburetorareup.
3. Removethebolt andthe bladebellsupportwhich
holdthebladeandthebladeadaptertotheengine
crankshaft.SeeFigure11.
