Leveling the Deck
NOTE:Checkthe tractor'stirepressurebeforeperform-
inganydecklevelingadjustments.Referto Tires on
page24 for informationregardingtire pressure.
Front To Rear
Thefrontofthecuttingdeckis supportedbya stabilizer
barthatcanadjustedtolevelthe deckfromfrontto rear.
Thefrontofthedeckshouldbebetween1/4-inchand
3/8-inchlowerthantherearofthedeck. Adjustif
necessaryasfollows:
1. Withthetractorparkedona firm,levelsurface,place
thedeckliftleverin thetopnotch(highestposition)
androtatethebladenearestthedischargechuteso
thatit isparallelwiththetractor.
2. Measurethe distancefromthe frontof thebladetip to
thegroundandtherearofthe bladetiptotheground.
Thefirst measurementtakenshouldbebetween
1/4"and3/8" lessthanthe secondmeasurement.
Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,ifnecessary,to the
nextstep.
3. Locatethejam nutandlocknut onthe frontsideof the
stabilizerbracket.SeeFigure14.Afterlooseningthe
jamnut:
Tightenthelocknutto raisethefrontofthedeck;
Loosenthe locknut to lowerthefrontofthedeck.
4. Retightenthe jam nut loosenedearlierwhenproper
adjustmentisachieved.
Side to Side
If thecuttingdeckappearsto bemowingunevenly,aside
tosideadjustmentcan beperformed.Adjustif necessary
asfollows:
1. Withthetractorparkedona firm,levelsurface,place
thedeckliftleverin thetopnotch(highestposition)
androtatebothbladesso thattheyare perpendicular
withthetractor.
2. Measurethe distancefromthe outsideof the leftblade
tiptothegroundandthedistancefromtheoutsideof
therightbladetipto theground.Bothmeasurements
takenshouldbeequal.If they'renot,proceedtothe
nextstep.
3. Loosen,butdo NOTremove,the hexcap screwon
theleftdeckhangerbracket.SeeFigure15.
4. Balancethe deckby usinga wrenchto turnthe
adjustmentgear(foundimmediatelybehindthe hex
capscrewjust loosened)clockwise/uporcounter-
clockwise/down.Thedeckis properlybalancedwhen
bothbladetipmeasurementstakenearlierareequal.
5. Retightenthe hex capscrewon theleftdeckhanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentisachieved.
Parking Brake Adjustment

tion, stop engine and remove key
to prevent unintended starting.
If thetractordoes notcometoa completestop whenthe
brakepedal iscompletelydepressed,orif thetractor's
rearwheelscanroll withtheparkingbrakeapplied,the
