Referto the Engine Operator/Owner Manualfor
engine maintenance instructions.
Checkengineoil levelbeforeeachuseas instructed
in the EngineOperator/OwnerManualpackedwithyour
unit.Follow the instructionscarefully.
Changing Engine Oil
NOTE:Dependingonthe enginemodelfoundon your
tractor,itmaybenecessaryto removethetractor'sside
panelinordertoreplacethe oilfilter (ifsoequipped).
Fordrainingoilfromthe engine'scrankcaseofselect
modeltractors,a plasticoildrainsleeveis packedwith
thisOperator'sManual.Todrainthe oil, proceedas
follows:
1. Unscrewtheoilfill capand removethe dipstickfrom
theoilfilltube.
2. Snapthe smallendof oildrainsleeveontothe oil
sump.SeeFigure20.
3. Removedrainpluganddrainoil intoa suitable
containerwitha capacityof no lessthan64oz.
4. Servicethe oilfilter (if soequipped)as instructedin
theseparateEngineOperator/OwnerManualpacked
withyourunit.
Performtheabovestepsin theoppositeorderafteroil has
finisheddraining.
5. Refillthe enginewith newmotoroilas instructedinthe
EngineOperator/OwnerManualpackedwithyour unit.
iMPORTANT:Referto the EngineOperator/Owner
Manualpackedwithyourunitforinformationregardingthe
quantityand properweightof motoroil.
Air Cleaner
Servicethepre-cleaner,ifsoequipped,andcartridge/air
cleanerelementas instructedin theEngineOperator/
OwnerManualpackedwithyour unit.
Spark Plug(s)
Thesparkplug(s)shouldbecleanedandthegapreset
oncea season.Sparkplugreplacementisrecommended
atthestartof each mowingseason.RefertotheEngine
Operator/OwnerManualfor correctplugtypeandgap
specifications.
Lubrication
WARNING: Before lubricating,
repairing,or inspecting,always
disengage PTO,move shift lever
into neutral position, set parking
brake, stop engine and remove
key to prevent unintended start-
ing.
Engine
Lubricatetheenginewithmotoroil as instructedinthe
EngineOwnerManualpackedwithyour unit.
Pivot Points & Linkage
Lubricateall the pivotpointson thedrivesystem,parking
brakeandlift linkageat leastoncea seasonwithlightoil.
Rear Wheels
Therearwheelsshouldberemovedfromthe axlesonce
a season.Lubricatetheaxlesandtherimswellwithan
all-purposegreasebeforere-installingthem.
Front Axles
Eachendof the tractor'sfrontpivotbarmaybeequipped
witha greasefitting.Lubricatewitha greasegun after
every25 hoursoftractoroperation.
Cleaning the Engine And Deck
Anyfuel oroil spilledonthe machineshouldbewiped
off promptly.DoNOTallowdebristo accumulatearound
thecoolingfinsof the engineoron anyotherpartofthe
machine.
iMPORTANT:Theuseof a pressurewasherto cleanyour
tractoris NOTrecommended.It maycausedamageto
electricalcomponents,spindles,pulleys,bearingsor the
engine.
