Parking Brake Button
Tosettheparkingbrake,fully
depressthe brakepedaland
pushtheparkingbrakebuttonin.
Holdthebuttoninwhiletaking
yourfootoffthe brakepedal.Both
theparkingbuttonandthebrake
pedalwillthenstaydepressed.
Toreleasetheparkingbrake,
depressthe brakepedalslightly.
Theparkingbrakebuttonwill then
returntoitsoriginalposition.
NOTE:Theparkingbrakemust besetif the operator
leavestheseatwiththeenginerunningor theenginewill
automaticallyshutoff.
IMPORTANT:Alwayssetthe parkingbrakewhen leaving
thetractorunattended.
Cruise Control Button
Thecruisecontrolbuttonis
locatedonthetractordash
paneltotheleft of the ignition
switch.Pushthe cruisecontrol
buttonwhiletravelingforwardat a
desiredspeed.Whileholdingthe
buttonin, releasepressurefrom
thedrivepedal.Thiswill engage
thecruisecontrolandallowthe
tractorto remainat thatspeed
withoutapplyingpressureto the
drivepedal.Depressthe brake
pedalor the drivepedalto deactivatecruisecontrol.

themanualfor detailedinstructionsregardingthecruise
controlfeature.
NOTE:CruisecontrolcanNOTbeengagedatthe
tractor'sfastestgroundspeed.Ifthe operatorshould
attempttodoso,thetractorwillautomaticallydecelerate
tothefastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Shift Lever
Theshiftleverislocatedonthe
leftsideofthefenderand has
threepositions,FORWARD,
NEUTRALand REVERSE.The
brakepedalmustbedepressed
andthetractormustnot bein
motionwhenthemovingshift
lever.
IMPORTANT:Neverforcethe
shiftlever.Doingso mayresultin
seriousdamageto the tractor's
transmission.

Safety Interlock Switches
Thistractorisequippedwitha safetyinterlocksystem
fortheprotectionoftheoperator.Iftheinterlocksystem
shouldevermalfunction,do notoperatethe tractor.
Contactan authorizedMTDservicedealer.
• Thesafetyinterlocksystempreventstheengine
fromcrankingorstartingunlesstheparkingbrake
isengaged,andthe PTO(BladeEngage)knob (or
lever)is in the disengaged(OFF)position.
• Theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff iftheoperator
leavestheseatbeforeengagingtheparkingbrake.
Models with Manual PTO (Blade Engage)
• Theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff iftheoperator
leavesthetractor'sseatwiththe PTO(BladeEngage)
leverin the engaged(ON) position,regardlessof
whethertheparkingbrakeis engaged.
• Withthe ignitionkeyinthe NORMALMOWING
position,theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff if the
PTO(BladeEngage)leveris movedinto theengaged
(ON)positionwiththeshiftleverinReverse.
Models with Electric PTO (Blade Engage)
• TheelectricPTO(BladeEngage)clutchwillautomati-
callyshutoff if the operatorleavesthetractor'sseat
withthePTO(BladeEngage)knobintheengaged
(ON)position,regardlessof whetherthe parking
brakeis engaged.
• Withthe ignitionkeyinthe NORMALMOWING
position,theelectricPTO(BladeEngage)clutchwill
automaticallyshutoffif thePTO(BladeEngage)knob
ismovedintotheengaged(ON)positionwiththeshift
leverin Reverse.
