      Your MTD Lawn Mower engine might fail to start due to several reasons: the PTO (Blade Engage) knob may be engaged (place it in the disengaged/OFF position); the parking brake may not be engaged (engage it); the spark plug wire(s) may be disconnected (connect them); the choke control might not be in the correct starting position or the choke may not be activated (pull the Choke Control into CHOKE position); the fuel tank may be empty or contain stale fuel (fill it with clean, fresh gas); the fuel line may be blocked (clean it or replace the fuel filter); the spark plug may be faulty (clean, adjust the gap, or replace it); or the engine may be flooded (crank it with the throttle in the FAST position).
