7.13.2 Charge-air coolant – Draining
Preconditions
Engine is stopped and starting disabled.
Special tools, Material, Spare parts
Designation / Use Part No. Qty.
Sealing ring

WARNING
Coolant is hot and under pressure.
Risk of injury and scalding!
Let the engine cool down.
Wear protective clothing, gloves, and goggles / safety mask.
Draining charge-air coolant
1. Provide a suitable container to catch the
coolant.
2. Turn breather valve on coolant expansion
tank counterclockwise to the first stop and
allow pressure to escape.
3. Continue to turn breather valve counterclock-
wise and remove.
4. Draw off precipitated corrosion inhibitor oil
from the coolant expansion tank through filler
neck.
5. Open drain plug and drain coolant at charge-
air coolant pump (1).
6. Screw in all drain plugs with new sealing
rings.
7. Position breather valve on filler neck and
close.
