Symptoms related to wet wood:
Diculty starng and keeping a re burning well
Smoke and small ames
Dirty glass and/or re bricks
Rapid creosote build-up in the ue/chimney
Low heat output
Short burn mes, excessive fuel consumpon and blue/
grey smoke from the ue/chimney outlet
Run appliance at high heat output for a short period each
day to avoid large build-up of tars and creosote within the
appliance and ue.
Flue Draught
The ue has two main funcons:-
1. To safely remove smoke, gases and fumes from the ap-
pliance.
2. To provide a sucient amount of draught (sucon) in the
appliance to ensure the re keeps burning.
Draught is caused by the rising hot air in the ue when the
re has been lit.
The posion, height and size of the ue can aect the per-
formance of the ue draught. Refer to installaon guide for
details on ue installaon.
Factors aecng the ue draught include:
Insucient ue height
Trees or other buildings nearby causing turbulence
High and gusty winds
Outside temperature and weather condions
Blocked ue
For advice on the correcon of persistent ue problems
consult your supplier/installer for more detail.
Depending on the type of wood burnt and frequency, the
ashes will need removing every 2 to 6 weeks.
Excess ashes should be removed when necessary, placed in
a non-combusble container with a ghtly ng lid and
moved outdoors immediately to a locaon clear of combus-
ble materials.
Leave a small amount of ash, approximately 10mm thick, in
the boom of the rebox. This helps to insulate the base of
the rebox.
If a ue/chimney re occurs:
Shut air spindle control fully to smother the re
Do not use the appliance aer a ue re unl an accred-
ited installer has assessed the cause and any resultant
