For the opmum between clean burning, and geng
the best in eciency, from the fully closed posion,
open the air spindle between half and one turn.
The air spindle can be adjusted to any posion so de-
sired depending on wanted heat output versus burn
me.
Reload with more wood:
1. Open air spindle before opening door.
2. Rake / break up any exisng coals.
3. Load the wood with the length orientated front to
back .
4. Beer results will be achieved by loading several small-
er pieces of wood than one large piece.
5. Close door with air spindle fully open, and leave for
minimum of 10 minutes to allow the fresh wood to
catch.
6. Aer 10 or more minutes, the air spindle can be adjust-
ed to the desired seng.
Fuel Quality
Use wood with a moisture content of less than 20%. Logs
should not feel moist or damp, or have moss and fungal
growths.
Symptoms related to wet wood:
Diculty starng and keeping a re burning well
Smoke and small ames
Dirty glass and/or re bricks
Rapid creosote build-up in the ue/chimney
Low heat output
Short burn mes, excessive fuel consumpon and blue/
grey smoke from the ue/chimney outlet
Run appliance at high heat output for a short period each
day to avoid large build-up of tars and creosote within the
appliance and ue.
Flue Draught
The ue has two main funcons:-
1. To safely remove smoke, gases and fumes from the ap-
pliance.
2. To provide a sucient amount of draught (sucon) in the
appliance to ensure the re keeps burning.
Draught is caused by the rising hot air in the ue when the
re has been lit.
The posion, height and size of the ue can aect the per-
formance of the ue draught. Refer to installaon guide for
details on ue installaon.
Factors aecng the ue draught include:
Insucient ue height
Trees or other buildings nearby causing turbulence
High and gusty winds
Outside temperature and weather condions
Blocked ue
For advice on the correcon of persistent ue problems
consult your supplier/installer for more detail.
Depending on the type of wood burnt and frequency, the
ashes will need removing every 2 to 6 weeks.
Excess ashes should be removed when necessary, placed in
a non-combusble container with a ghtly ng lid and
moved outdoors immediately to a locaon clear of combus-
ble materials.
Leave a small amount of ash, approximately 10mm thick, in
the boom of the rebox. This helps to insulate the base of
the rebox.
If a ue/chimney re occurs:
Shut air spindle control fully to smother the re
Do not use the appliance aer a ue re unl an accred-
ited installer has assessed the cause and any resultant
damage.
