Overview

The device is a metal detector called "The LEGEND" manufactured by Nokta Makro Detection Technologies. It is a state-of-the-art electronic device designed for various metal detecting applications, including coin and jewelry hunting, relic hunting, and gold prospecting.

Function Description:

The LEGEND is a multi-frequency metal detector capable of operating in a wide range of frequencies simultaneously (Multi(2), 4kHz, 10kHz, 15kHz, 20kHz, 40kHz). This allows for versatile detection across different target types and ground conditions. It offers four distinct search modes: Park, Field, Beach, and Goldfield, each optimized for specific environments and target types. The device provides an estimated target depth and a Target ID (01-60) to help users identify buried objects. A unique feature called FerroCheck™™ graphically displays the ferrous/non-ferrous ratio of targets, aiding in the identification of trash metals. The pinpoint mode helps in precisely locating detected targets.

  • Display: Features an LCD screen that shows an info bar, clock and time tracking, search modes, target ID scale with notched out IDs, operating frequency, sensitivity indicator, target ID, depth indicator, user profile save & delete, FerroCheck™™ bar, pinpoint icon, and settings.
  • Controls: Includes a Power & Settings button, Pinpoint & Accept/Reject button, Frequency button, Discrimination button, Right and Left buttons for navigation, Up (+) and Down (-) buttons for value adjustment, and a Ground Balance button.
  • Search Modes:
    • Park: Optimized for coin and jewelry hunting in urban areas with modern trash. Default discrimination rejects Target IDs 1-11 (iron, aluminum foil). Uses Multi and single frequencies. Default Recovery Speed 5, 4 tones. FerroCheck™™ is important for identifying trash.
    • Field: Recommended for coin and relic hunting in pasture and cropped/plowed fields. Default discrimination rejects Target IDs 1-12 (ferrous trash, coke). Uses Multi and single frequencies. Default Recovery Speed 5, 2 tones.
    • Beach: Optimized for dry or wet beach sand and underwater use. Automatically switches to Multi frequency (Wet sand/underwater (MW) or dry sand with very low salinity (WD)). Single frequencies cannot be used. Black sand detection with a warning icon. Default Recovery Speed 5, 4 tones.
    • Goldfield: Optimized for mineralized goldfields. Features a continuous threshold tone. Ideal for detecting small and large gold nuggets. Uses higher single frequencies (20kHz, 40kHz) and Multi frequency. Default Recovery Speed 5, 1 tone.
  • Sensitivity: 30 levels (default 25) to adjust depth and eliminate electromagnetic interference. Higher sensitivity offers greater depth but may increase noise.
  • Target Depth: Estimated depth based on signal strength, shown in 5 levels. Calibrated for a 2.5cm (1") coin.
  • Frequency: Multi-frequency operation for broad target range and single frequencies (4kHz, 10kHz, 15kHz, 20kHz, 40kHz) for specific target types or noisy environments.
  • Target ID: 2-digit number (01-60) indicating metal conductivity. Ferrous range 1-10, non-ferrous 11-60. Target IDs can be jumpy due to various factors (orientation, depth, purity, corrosion, mineralization).
  • Discrimination Patterns:
    • All Metal (A): All IDs (1-60) are accepted, providing audio response for all metals and ground.
    • Ground Off (G): Rejects Target IDs 1-2, no ground noise or ID.
    • Ferrous Off (F): Rejects ferrous targets (IDs vary by mode).
    • Custom (C): Allows users to create their own discrimination pattern by accepting or rejecting specific IDs (notching).
  • Ground Balance: Automatic, Manual, and Tracking options to minimize ground noise and improve depth/stability, especially in mineralized grounds. Range 00-99 (00-20 in Beach MW).
  • Pinpoint: Non-motion mode to precisely locate targets by providing a continuous signal when the coil is stationary over the target.
  • FerroCheck™™: Graphically displays ferrous/non-ferrous ratio to help identify trash metals, especially those with mixed signals.
  • Settings Menu: Access to various adjustable parameters including:
    • Frequency Shift: 13 channels to eliminate electromagnetic interference. Can be manual or automatic (Noise Cancellation).
    • Recovery Speed: 1-10 levels to adjust target response speed, affecting separation of close targets and depth.
    • Volume: 6 levels to adjust device audio output.
    • Tone Settings: 6 sub-settings:
      • Number of Tones: 1, 2, 4, 6, or 60 tones to divide the Target ID scale into zones for different audio responses. Goldfield mode is fixed at 1 tone.
      • Tone Volume: 0-10 levels to adjust volume for each tone zone.
      • Tone Frequency: 1-30 levels to adjust frequency for each tone zone, aiding target identification by audio. Goldfield mode is not adjustable.
      • Tone Break: Adjusts the separation point between target zones.
      • Threshold Level: 0-25 levels for a continuous background hum, making weaker signals more audible.
      • Threshold Frequency: 1-30 levels to adjust the frequency of the background hum.
  • User Profile: 4 customizable user profiles to save optimized settings for different locations/targets, accessible instantly.
  • Backlight: 0-5 levels (and A1-A5 for temporary lighting) to adjust display brightness.
  • Vibration: 0-5 levels for haptic feedback when a target is detected, can be used with or without audio.
  • LED Flashlight: On/off setting for lighting the search area in dark conditions.
  • Bluetooth®: On/off setting for wireless headphone connection. Compatible with Nokta Makro BT Headphones and other aptX™™ Low Latency headphones.
