Why NORBIT WINGHEAD Industrial Equipment cannot connect to the sonar?
    • J
      John SmithAug 25, 2025
If you're unable to connect to the NORBIT Industrial Equipment sonar, here are a few things to check: * Verify the SIU is powered on. * Ensure cable connections are free from corrosion, properly secured, and that pins are not bent. * Check for IP address conflicts. The network card on the PC should be configured to 192.168.53.XXX where XXX is neither 100 (INS) nor the sonar serial number. * If using a network switch, bypass it and connect directly to the computer to check for faults with the switch. * Reboot the PC, wait 30 seconds, then power-cycle the system. * Open Windows Command Prompt and type `ping 192.168.53.XX` (XX being the last 2 digits of the sonar serial number) to see if the sonar is detectable by the acquisition PC. * Ground SIU.

What to do if NORBIT WINGHEAD Industrial Equipment sonar does not power up, or power is lost during operation?
    • A
      Alejandra ScottAug 26, 2025
If your NORBIT Industrial Equipment sonar doesn't power up or loses power during operation: * Check the power supply voltage with a voltmeter. * Depending on the power source, check the battery/inverter for failure and replace it. * If the power is 28V, the power LED on the SIU will blink at 5Hz. Test the system using an alternative power source, such as power from a wall outlet or a fully charged battery.

How to fix NORBIT Industrial Equipment when there is no timing in the sonar or GUI timing line is red?
    • D
      downscynthiaAug 27, 2025
If there is no timing in the NORBIT Industrial Equipment sonar or the GUI timing line is red: * Check the pins on the cable and SIU. If a pin is bent, VERY gently bend it back. *This may result in damage, so do so at own liability* * Go to INS Tools > Sky Plot and check that satellites are detected on both GNSS antennas. * Check that the PPS LED on the SIU is blinking at 1Hz. * If satellites are detected but the LED is not blinking at 1Hz, open POSView and check COM4 output to verify that it is configured to output NMEA ZDA at 1Hz, 9600 baud.

How to resolve data quality issues (motion artefacts, etc.) in NORBIT Industrial Equipment?
    • J
      Julia HodgesAug 27, 2025
If you're experiencing data quality issues like motion artifacts with your NORBIT Industrial Equipment: * Ensure that multiple network cards (Wi-Fi and wired) are NOT connected to the same subnet, as this causes duplication of navigation data in the files. * Review the physical installation, ensuring that the mounting structure is rigid and free from vibration. * Check that there is no independent movement between GNSS antennas, and review the antenna separation (2m is ideal). * Review offsets and positioning quality. * Review the Data Quality Control Checklist.

Why “Sonar timing incorrect” pop-up window remains when satellites detected in NORBIT WINGHEAD Industrial Equipment?
    • V
      vgraySep 16, 2025
If the “Sonar timing incorrect” pop-up window remains when satellites are detected in NORBIT Industrial Equipment, it may happen if the INS boots-up slower than the sonar. Close the pop-up window. If sonar timing is incorrect, the timing row in the main GUI display will remain red.

Why NORBIT WINGHEAD system status shows faults?
    • J
      jessicawilliamsSep 5, 2025
If the system status of your NORBIT Industrial Equipment shows faults: * Check that cables are secure and tight. * Check for bent pins on the cable and SIU. * Low-quality power supplies may cause this issue. Try an alternative power source. * There may be a damaged sonar cable. * Ground SIU.

What to check if IMU is connected but there is no sonar connected in NORBIT WINGHEAD Industrial Equipment?
    • D
      Donald NovakSep 3, 2025
If the IMU is connected but there is no sonar connected in your NORBIT Industrial Equipment setup: * Check cable connections and re-seat if necessary. * There may be a possible IP address conflict. Check network settings. * Ensure that GUI and BathyProxy are allowed in Windows Firewall. * Ground SIU.
