The ketone measurement is based on the following

methodology:

Enzyme

1. D-3-hydroxybutyrate + NAD ––––––> Acetoacetate

+ NADH + H

2. Mediator (ox) + NADH –––––> Mediator (red) + NAD

3. Mediator (red) ––––––> Mediator (ox)

The current generated at the electrode is proportional to the

ketone concentration of the sample.
