4.7 Lathe Alignment
Generally, new lathes are strictly inspected in factory and does not need to be aligned again. Over time, as the lathe
wears out, you may need to re-align your lathe. To realign machine, please follow the method below.
1. Double ended 2 Morse Taper method:
a. Lock the Headstock at 0° by using the locking handle on the bed. Slide toolrest up against the
headstock.
b. Loosen the motor mounting screws on the headstock, approximately 5-8 turns should be acceptable.
c. Firmly install a double ended 2MT alignment tool on tailstock.
