4.1 Unpacking and Preparing the Lathe
1. Remove all smaller items from main carton. Do not discard carton or packing material until the lathe is assembled and
running satisfactorily.
2. Inspect contents for shipping damage; if any is found, report it to your distributor.
3. Compare contents of shipping carton with the contents list in this manual. Report shortages, if any, to your
distributor. Note: Check lathe first – some parts may have been pre-installed.
4. Exposed metal areas of the Lathe, such as bed ways and spindles, have been factory coated with a protectant. This
should be removed with a soft cloth and a cleaner degreaser. Clean the bed areas under headstock, tailstock and tool
support base. Do not use an abrasive pad, and do not allow solvents to contact painted or plastic areas.
WARNING! Seek help when moving the NOVA 15” DVR lathe and its heavier components to help avoid risk of
injury. Use straps in good condition. Straps/lifting mechanisms must be properly rated for lathe weight. Read
and understand the contents of this manual and recommended procedures before attempting to assemble or
operate the Lathe or its parts.
DO NOT CONNECT POWER ON LATHE UNTIL FULLY ASSEMBLED.
4.2 Lathe Installation
4.2.1 Assemble the stand to the bed
Step 1:
Lay the bed face down on a flat clean surface. It is recommended that
a piece of cardboard is placed between the bed and the floor to
protect the surface of the bed.
Step 2:
Align one of the legs with the mounting holes on the bed. Fasten in
place.
DO NOT FULLY TIGHTEN AT THIS STAGE.
Repeat this process for the remaining three legs.
