Overview

The Numatic TGB 6055/100 and TGB 6055/100T are battery scrubber dryers designed for efficient floor cleaning. These machines are robust and user-friendly, suitable for a variety of commercial and industrial environments, including hotels, schools, hospitals, factories, shops, and offices. The primary function of these devices is to scrub and dry floors in a single pass, leaving them clean and safe.

Function Description

The TGB 6055/100 and TGB 6055/100T operate as battery-powered scrubber dryers. They feature a brush deck that applies cleaning solution and scrubs the floor, followed by a squeegee and vacuum system that collects the dirty water, leaving the floor dry. The "T" in TGB 6055/100T indicates a traction drive model, which provides enhanced maneuverability and ease of use, especially in larger areas or on slight inclines.

The machine is equipped with a clean water tank and a waste water tank. The clean water tank is filled with water and, if desired, a suitable cleaning chemical. The brush system, available in 550mm brush or 500mm pad options, applies this solution to the floor while scrubbing. The Nulock brush system simplifies the process of fitting and removing brushes or pads. After scrubbing, the semi-parabolic floor tool, which houses the squeegee blades, collects the dirty water. A vacuum motor then suctions this water into the waste water tank, ensuring the floor is left dry and streak-free.

The control panel is designed for intuitive operation, featuring a key ignition switch, hours meter, battery charge level indicator, vacuum pick-up on/off switch, water flow on/off switch, and a brush on/off control handle. The traction drive model (TGB 6055/100T) additionally includes a speed control dial, forward/backwards control, an emergency stop button, and a traction status light, offering more precise control over movement.

Usage Features

Before operation, the machine requires a simple setup. This involves lifting the top waste tank to access the battery compartment, fitting the battery fuse, and inserting the ignition key. The brush or pad is easily fitted by sliding it under the brush deck and twisting it onto the Nulock drive chuck. The floor tool is then attached and secured with a detent pin, and the waste collection pipe is connected. The clean water tank can be filled using a dedicated hose or by unscrewing the filler cap and pouring water directly. It's crucial to ensure the waste water tank is empty before filling the clean water tank to accurately gauge the fill level.

Once set up, the machine is ready for cleaning. The operator lowers the brush deck and the floor tool using their respective levers. The water flow rate and vacuum pick-up are then switched on via the control panel. For the traction drive model, the desired traction speed is selected, and the forward/reverse switch is set. The machine is operated by pushing it forward (or driving it for traction models) while holding the control handle. Overlapping scrubbing paths by 10cm ensures an even clean.

The TGB 6055/100 offers a brush pressure/load adjustment feature, allowing the operator to increase pressure for hard-to-clean areas. This feature should be used sparingly as it can reduce run-time. For heavily soiled floors, a "double scrub" technique is recommended: pre-scrub the floor with the floor tool raised, allow the chemical to work, then scrub again with the floor tool lowered. The floor tool is designed with a break-away feature, allowing it to safely disengage if it encounters an obstruction, preventing damage.

The TGB 6055/100T includes a free-wheel function, enabling manual movement of the machine when required. This is activated by pulling out and swinging an arm located near the rear wheel, disengaging the motor brake. It's important to engage this function only on level ground.

Battery charging is a straightforward process. The battery meter on the control panel indicates the charge level. When the second-to-last light starts flashing, the machine should be taken to a charging point. The charging lead is inserted into the charging socket at the rear of the machine and connected to a power supply. The on-board charger automatically monitors the process and switches off when fully charged. For charger-less models, an external charger is used by removing the isolator plug and connecting the charger.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the TGB 6055/100 and TGB 6055/100T. All maintenance procedures should be performed with the machine switched off and the key removed.

Daily maintenance includes:

  • Emptying and flushing the waste water tank: This is done using the emptying hose.
  • Cleaning the floor tool vacuum hose: Remove and flush with clean water.
  • Emptying and flushing the clean water tank: Use the emptying hose and clean water.
  • Inspecting and cleaning the full tank switch: Located in the waste water tank, this switch can get clogged and blocked, affecting operation. Ensure the float pad is clean and in correct position.
  • Removing and cleaning the vacuum filter: Keep it dry. The machine should never be used without the recommended filter.
  • Removing and rinsing the debris basket filter: Clogged baskets can impair vacuum performance.
  • Checking the clean water filter: Located under the left-hand side, ensure the clean water tank is empty before removing this filter. Raising the brush deck can make access easier.
  • Inspecting brushes/pads and squeegee blades: Check for wear and damage. The squeegee blades are reversible to extend their working life.
  • Inspecting the battery connections: Check for tightness and corrosion.

Weekly maintenance, in addition to daily tasks, includes:

  • Checking and rinsing the brush or pad and skirt.
  • Checking floor tool blades for wear and wiping them clean.
  • Cleaning the separator assembly, including the filter, and checking the condition of the seal.
  • Flushing out the system with clean water and cleaning filters.
  • Avoiding steam cleaners or pressure washers for cleaning the machine.

Battery care is paramount. Batteries should be fully recharged after every use, regardless of operation time, and never left in a discharged state. For prolonged storage (30 days or more), batteries must be fully charged, and battery fuses removed. They should be recharged every three months during storage. The battery charge light sequence provides diagnostic information, indicating charging status (constant current, constant voltage, charge complete) or system errors (unsuitable battery, charging malfunction, battery not connected).

The manual also provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to address common operational issues, such as the machine not operating, poor water pick-up, or lack of brush/scrub function. This guide helps operators identify the cause of a problem and provides corresponding solutions, often involving simple checks or maintenance tasks. For complex issues or breakdowns, contacting a Numatic dealer or the technical helpline is recommended.
