The NutriBullet PRO+ is a nutrient extractor designed to create nutrient-dense smoothies, known as NutriBlasts, by breaking down the cell walls of whole foods. Unlike traditional blenders and juicers, the NutriBullet PRO+ aims to retain all the health benefits of eating whole fruits and vegetables, including fiber, pulp, seeds, and skins, ensuring nothing is left behind.
Function Description
The primary function of the NutriBullet PRO+ is nutrient extraction. It uses a powerful motor and specialized Extractor Blades to pulverize ingredients, transforming whole foods into smooth, nutritious beverages. The device operates in two main modes: Blend Mode and Pulse Mode.
Usage Features
Building a NutriBlast:
The NutriBullet PRO+ simplifies the process of making a NutriBlast with a four-step approach:
- Add 50% Leafy Greens & 50% Fruit to the Vessel: Start by filling the blending container with approximately two good-sized handfuls of leafy greens (e.g., spinach, kale, Swiss chard, collard greens, romaine lettuce) and about one cup of fruit. For a creamy texture, adding a banana or half an avocado is suggested. Additional fruits can be added as desired, ensuring they fit within the vessel.
- Fill Only Up to the MAX Line with Liquid: Liquid is essential for creating a NutriBlast. Users can choose water, coconut water, almond milk, unsweetened cashew milk, or chilled unsweetened tea. The liquid should be added up to, but never exceeding, the MAX line on the vessel. For a thicker consistency, less liquid can be used. Ice can be added for a cooler blast, but it should not exceed 25% of the total volume of ingredients. Frozen fruits and vegetables are recommended for frosty blasts.
- Add Your Boost (Optional): For added nutrition and satiety, users can include 1/8 to 1/4 cup of nuts and/or seeds (e.g., nut butter, chia seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, shredded coconut, coconut oil, olive oil, or various nuts). Superfood boosts like lemon or lime juice, herbs and spices (cinnamon, fresh mint, basil, cilantro, ginger, turmeric), other superfood powders (cacao, maca, chlorella, spirulina), or high-quality protein powder can also be incorporated.
- Twist on the NutriBullet Blade, Extract, Enjoy!: After adding ingredients, the Extractor Blade is twisted onto the vessel and hand-tightened to ensure a secure seal. The vessel is then placed blade-side down onto the Power Base.
Operating Modes:
- Blend Mode (Default): When the NutriBullet PRO+ is plugged in, it is in Blend Mode. To activate, rotate the vessel clockwise on the Power Base. This engages the magnetic interlock, illuminates a green LED light, and initiates a 60-second blending cycle. The unit automatically stops, and the LED light turns off after one minute. For more extraction, users should wait one minute, then repeat the process up to three times. If more than three 1-minute extractions are needed, the Power Base should be allowed to cool for 2-3 minutes before continuing. The NutriBlast is ready when it appears smooth and creamy. To manually stop the process, twist the vessel counter-clockwise to disengage the magnetic interlock, then remove the vessel once the Power Base and Blade have stopped completely.
- Pulse Mode: This mode is ideal for making chunky foods like salsas or coarsely chopped onions. To activate Pulse Mode, push and twist the vessel onto the Power Base, then quickly press the Pulse Button. The Pulse Button will flash green, indicating Pulse Mode is active. Users can then press and hold the Pulse Button to make the blades turn and release it to stop. It's recommended to allow the blades to come to a complete stop after each pulse to achieve the desired consistency. Pulse Mode is active for one minute and then times out. If the vessel is still in the ON position after timeout, it must be rotated counter-clockwise to the OFF position before normal function can resume.
Techniques for Stubborn Blends:
- Shake Technique: If ingredients are packed too densely or there isn't enough liquid, some ingredients may not reach the blade. In this case, remove the vessel and blade assembly from the Power Base, shake it like a cocktail shaker, and then place it back on the Power Base to resume blending. To turn off the NutriBullet, twist the vessel counter-clockwise to release the tabs and stop pressing down on the vessel. Remove the vessel once the Power Base stops completely.
- Tap Technique: For ingredients clinging to the side of the vessel, remove the vessel and blade assembly from the Power Base. Tap the blade side of the assembly on a counter with enough force to dislodge the ingredients. Be careful not to tap too hard to avoid damaging the unit. Then, return the vessel and blade assembly to the Power Base and resume blending. Repeat if necessary.
Safety Precautions During Use:
- Never blend hot ingredients or liquids, as this can cause pressure buildup and potential expulsion of hot contents, leading to injury or property damage. Ingredients should be room temperature or cooler (21°C/70°F or less).
- Do not run the NutriBullet for more than one minute at a time to prevent overheating and pressure buildup.
- Never blend carbonated liquids or ingredients like baking soda, as released gases can cause the container to burst.
- If the blending container feels warm to the touch after blending, allow it to cool before carefully opening it, pointing it away from your body to avoid injury from built-up pressure.
- After blending, slowly unscrew the container from the blade assembly to release any pressure, keeping the container pointed away from you.
- Allow the Power Base to shut off completely and wait at least 60 seconds between blending cycles.
- Do not run for more than 3 consecutive 1-minute intervals to prevent overheating. Allow 2-3 minutes for ingredients to settle after the third extraction cycle.
- Do not allow blended mixtures to sit in a sealed container for long periods, as fermentation can cause pressure buildup. Remove the Extractor Blade and use a Flip-Top Lid if not consuming immediately, and periodically release pressure by carefully unscrewing the lid.
- Extractor Blades are sharp and should be handled with care. Avoid touching the blade edges.
- Keep hands and utensils away from moving parts during blending.
- Ensure the Extractor Blade is securely screwed onto the Blending Container BEFORE placing it on the Power Base.
- Never store the Extractor Blade in the Power Base without a Blending Container attached.
- Always ensure the Extractor Blade is undamaged and the gasket is completely seated before each use to prevent leakage.
- Wait for the motor to come to a complete stop before removing the Blending Container/Extractor Blade assembly from the Power Base to prevent damage to the Extractor Blade coupling or motor gear.
- Never blend without liquid, as this can damage the Extractor Blade. The NutriBullet is not intended for use as an ice crusher or without liquids.
- Do not use the Extractor Blade for grinding dry ingredients like grains, cereal, or coffee, as this can damage the motor and blade.
- Avoid using certain seeds and pits (apple seeds, cherry pits, plum pits, peach pits, apricot pits) as they contain cyanide-releasing chemicals.
- Never use hands or utensils to clean the White Actuator Tabs while the NutriBullet is plugged in.
- Do not overfill the blending container beyond the MAX line to prevent leakage and dangerous pressurization.
- Use only blending containers and extractor blades specific to the NutriBullet model to avoid damage or safety hazards.
- Periodically inspect components for damage or wear. Discontinue use and replace damaged parts.
- Always power off and unplug the NutriBullet when not in use or before assembling, disassembling, changing accessories, or cleaning.
- Periodically inspect the cord and plug for damage. Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug.
- Do not use the NutriBullet outdoors or in inclement weather.
- Do not allow the cord to hang over edges, pull, twist, or damage it, or let it touch hot surfaces.
- If the motor stops working due to overheating, unplug the Power Base and let it cool for an hour. The internal thermal breaker will reset when cooled.
- If the Power Base does not shut off after 1 minute, stop it by pressing down and turning it counter-clockwise, then lift the assembly off the Power Base or unplug it and allow it to cool for an hour.
- Ensure the Power Base's ventilation openings are free of dust and lint and unobstructed to prevent overheating. Do not place the unit on flammable materials.
- Always operate on a level surface with unobstructed space around the Power Base for air circulation.
- Do not place any NutriBullet parts in a microwave or stove-top pot, or immerse in boiling water.
Maintenance Features
Cleaning Instructions:
Cleaning the NutriBullet is straightforward. Most parts, except the Power Base and Extractor Blade, are top-rack dishwasher safe. Alternatively, components can be hand-washed with warm soapy water and rinsed.
- General Cleaning: Always power off and unplug the Power Base before cleaning. Ensure the Blending Container/Extractor Blade is not attached to the Power Base.
- Power Base: Never submerge the Power Base in water or place it in the dishwasher. Do not remove the rubber or plastic liners. Wipe the inside well and outside of the Power Base with a sponge or dishcloth dampened with warm soapy water. Pay attention to the white actuator tabs, scrubbing with a small brush if necessary to remove sticky debris.
- Extractor Blades: Do not wash the Extractor Blade in the dishwasher, as high temperatures can warp the plastic and damage the gaskets. Rinse the blades in warm water immediately after each use to prevent debris from drying. For thorough cleaning, hand wash with warm soapy water and use a dish brush. Do not remove the gasket, as this can permanently damage the blade and cause leakage. For additional disinfecting, rinse with a 10% vinegar/water solution or lemon juice. Dry the blades completely, ensuring both sides are dry.
- Blending Containers (Cups, Lids, and Lip Rings): These items are top-rack dishwasher safe. Rinse them and use a dish brush to remove dried debris before washing. Do not use the sanitize cycle, as this may warp the plastic.
Stubborn Cleanup:
If ingredients dry inside the NutriBullet Cups, fill the container about 2/3 full with room temperature water (21°C/70°F or less), screw on the Extractor Blade, and place the assembly on the Power Base for 20-30 seconds. This will loosen stuck ingredients, allowing for easy scrubbing and rinsing.
Cleaning After a Leak:
If a leak occurs, power off and unplug the Power Base. Pour out any excess spillage into the sink. Wipe down the inside well and outside of the Power Base with a sponge or dishcloth dampened with warm soapy water. Pay particular attention to the white actuator tabs, scrubbing with a small brush if needed.
