Overview

The NuWave Brio™ Digital Air Fryer is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for air frying, offering a healthier alternative to traditional deep frying by using hot air to cook food. Its primary function is to cook a wide variety of foods, from breakfast items and potatoes to meats, poultry, and frozen snacks, with less oil and fat. The appliance is intended for normal household use and is not suitable for commercial or industrial environments.

Function Description

The NuWave Brio™ operates by circulating hot air around the food, creating a crispy exterior similar to fried food but with significantly less oil. It features a digital control panel that allows users to easily set and adjust cooking temperature and time. The "On/Off" button powers the unit on and off, displaying "0" when no settings are selected. The "Start/Pause" button initiates or interrupts the cooking process, providing flexibility during operation.

A key feature is the "Pre-Heat" function, which ensures the air fryer reaches the desired temperature before food is added. This is particularly beneficial for foods that require a crispier finish, such as frozen appetizers, French fries, or chicken wings. When activated, the control panel flashes "360°F," "Pre-Heat," and "Temp," indicating that the unit is preheating. Users can manually adjust the preheat temperature and time if needed. Once the set temperature is reached, the unit beeps and displays "Ready," starting a 5-minute countdown. If the Fry Pan Basket is removed during preheating, the unit pauses and resumes the countdown once the basket is replaced, prompting the user to press "Start/Pause" to begin cooking.

The appliance offers precise temperature control, adjustable in 5-degree increments from 100°F to 390°F. For quicker adjustments, holding down the "up" or "down" arrow allows for 50-degree increments. The cooking time can also be adjusted, with default settings of 10 minutes. Time adjustments are made in 1-minute increments, with options for 10, 20, or 30-minute increments by holding down the arrow buttons. The maximum selectable cooking time varies based on temperature: 99 hours and 59 minutes for temperatures between 100°F and 345°F, and 1 hour for temperatures between 350°F and 390°F. The display shows remaining time in minutes until it reaches 1 minute, after which it switches to seconds.

Usage Features

Before first use, all packaging materials, glue, and labels must be removed. The Fry Pan Basket, Base Tray, and optional accessories like the Baking Pot, Reversible Rack, and Grill Pan should be thoroughly cleaned with hot water, a nonabrasive sponge, and mild dish detergent, or in the dishwasher (top rack only). The inside and outside of the appliance should be wiped with a wet cloth, but the unit itself should never be immersed in water. It's crucial to remember that this appliance cooks with hot air and the basket should not be filled with oil.

For operation, the NuWave Brio™ should be placed on a horizontal, even, and stable heat-resistant surface. The Base Tray and Fry Pan Basket are inserted into the unit, and the appliance is plugged into a standard wall socket. It's important not to cover or block the vent on top of the unit, as this can impede ventilation and negatively affect cooking results.

When adding food, the Fry Pan Basket should not be filled more than 4/5 full to ensure even cooking. Some foods, such as French fries or frozen snacks, may require shaking halfway through the cooking process for best results. To shake food, the Base Tray and Fry Pan Basket are removed from the appliance by holding the handle, shaken, and then reinserted. A critical safety note is not to press the demounting button on the handle while shaking, as this could cause the basket to detach.

The optional Grill Pan can be used by removing the Fry Pan Basket from the Base Tray (by lifting the safety cover and pressing the demounting button) and replacing it with the Grill Pan. This feature is useful for grilling various items. The design allows for easy removal of the Fry Pan Basket or Grill Pan from the Base Tray, which can reduce weight and make pouring out smaller foods like French fries easier.

The NuWave Brio™ is designed for quick heating, so briefly removing the frying pan during operation has minimal impact on the cooking process. If cooking multiple batches, the "Pre-Heat" function may not be necessary for subsequent batches as the unit will already be hot. For longer cooking, food can be placed back in the appliance and cooked in 2-3 minute increments until the desired consistency is achieved.

Maintenance Features

Proper care and maintenance are essential for the longevity and performance of the NuWave Brio™ Digital Air Fryer. The appliance should be cleaned after every use or between large batches. The Fry Pan Basket and the inside of the Base Tray have a non-stick coating, so metal utensils or harsh abrasives should not be used during cleaning to avoid damage.

Before cleaning, the appliance must be unplugged and allowed to cool completely. Removing the Base Tray and Fry Pan Basket and placing them on a heat-resistant surface can help them cool quicker. The outside of the appliance can be wiped with a damp cloth. The Fry Pan Basket and internal components should be cleaned with a nonabrasive sponge, hot water, and mild detergent. Both the Base Tray and Fry Pan Basket are dishwasher-safe (top rack only).

For stubborn food residue in the Base Tray and Fry Pan Basket, adding hot water and letting them soak for about 10 minutes can facilitate easier cleaning. The inside of the appliance should also be cleaned with a nonabrasive sponge and hot water. A cleaning brush can be used to remove any lingering food from the heating components.

Accessories such as the Grill Pan, Baking Pot, and Reversible Rack should be washed with mild soap and water or in a dishwasher (top rack only) before first use and after each use. They should be dried thoroughly and not soaked for long periods. Harsh abrasives, steel wool, or oven cleaning solutions should be avoided, as they can cause scratching. Minor scratches or discoloration will not affect performance. Silicone accessories, including the Silicone Mat and Silicone Cup Cake Liners, can withstand temperatures up to 500°F, but exceeding recommended use temperatures may void the warranty. These silicone items should not be placed on the top rack of a conventional oven or used for broiling, and sharp objects should not be used on them.

For storage, the appliance should be unplugged and completely cooled. All parts must be cleaned and dry. The power cord can be pushed into the storing capsule and fixed into the cord fixing unit. It is crucial not to immerse the unit in water or attempt to clean it in a dishwasher. The outer surface should only be cleaned by wiping carefully with a damp dishcloth or sponge after the unit has cooled completely.
