Why is my O.S. Engine not reaching expected peak r.p.m.?
    • C
      Chelsea CrawfordAug 5, 2025
If your O.S. Engine is not reaching the expected peak r.p.m., it might be due to insufficient warming up or running-in. Ensure you set the needle only after warming up the engine and complete the running-in process. Also, check if the silencer or manifold isn't securely connected or is disconnected. Replace the seal ring and secure the connections. A split or broken fuel tubing from the tank can also cause this issue, so replace the tubing.

What to do if O.S. engine fires intermittently but does not run?
    • H
      heatheracostaAug 9, 2025
If your O.S. engine fires intermittently but does not run, it could be due to insufficient fuel in the tank, so fill the tank with fuel. A deteriorated glowplug can also cause this, so replace the glowplug. Check for a clogged fuel filter or dirty air cleaner and silencer inside and clean or replace the fuel filter; replace the cleaner element and clean inside the silencer. If the engine overheated, wait until the engine is cool. Ensure the clutch release is correct by adjusting the tension of the clutch spring. Avoid disconnecting the starting battery too soon; wait until the r.p.m. becomes stable. Vibration causing air bubbles in fuel can also be a factor; install "O" rings to the tank screws to prevent bubbles.

How to fix poor response on my O.S. Engine?
    • H
      hmillerAug 15, 2025
If your O.S. Engine has poor response, consider these potential causes. A deteriorated glowplug may be the culprit, so try replacing it. Incorrect carburetor settings can also lead to poor response; readjust the low r.p.m. range using the metering needle and mixture control valve. Additionally, check the transmitter setting for an incorrect Exponential function. Finally, ensure the throttle servo linkage does not bind and is connected correctly.

Why is the idle unstable on my O.S. engine?
    • A
      Anthony ReedAug 20, 2025
An unstable idle in your O.S. engine can be caused by several factors. Ensure you are using the glowplug suggested in the instructions. Avoid using fuel with extremely high nitro or low oil content. If the flywheel is extremely light, consider adding a heavier one. Also, make sure the silencer is securely installed and doesn't have any play.

What to do if my O.S. Engine has poor r.p.m. drop?
    • D
      David CastroAug 26, 2025
If your O.S. Engine exhibits poor r.p.m. drop, it could be due to several factors related to the carburetor and throttle. The throttle position might be open too far; close the metering needle to an adequate position to lower the idle r.p.m.. Ensure the carburetor is fully and securely installed. If the metering needle is closed too far, open it a little.

What to do if my O.S. engine fails to fire?
    • K
      Kimberly VaughnOct 30, 2025
If your O.S. engine fails to fire, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure that the fuel tank is filled and that fuel is properly reaching the engine by repeating the priming procedure. If the glowplug element is burnt out or the glowplug battery is discharged, replace the glowplug and recharge or replace the battery. A clogged fuel filter or dirty air cleaner and silencer can also prevent firing, so clean or replace the fuel filter and the cleaner element, and clean inside the silencer. Over-priming can be an issue, so remove the glowplug and pump out any excess fuel. Check that the fuel tubing is securely connected and replace it if it's kinked, split, or has a hole. Also, make sure the servo linkage is correctly connected after setting the servo at neutral, and ensure the star...
