Overview

The OEMTOOLS Battery-Operated Liquid Transfer Pump is a versatile tool designed for transferring various non-corrosive liquids quickly and efficiently, particularly in situations where standard power sources are unavailable. This device is ideal for a range of applications in garages, basements, bathrooms, shops, yards, and aquariums.

Function Description:

The primary function of this pump is to transfer liquids such as gasoline, water, and oil. It operates by submerging the suction end into the liquid and activating the pump via an on/off switch. The liquid is then discharged through a 24-inch hose into a receiving container. The pump is designed for ease of use and portability, relying on two D-cell batteries for power, which are not included. Its ability to pump 5-6 quarts of liquid per minute makes it an efficient solution for liquid transfer tasks.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Flow (GPM): 1 gallon per minute (equivalent to 5-6 quarts per minute).
  • Suction Tube: 1-1/8 inches in diameter and 13-3/8 inches long.
  • Discharge Hose Length: 24 inches.
  • Power: Uses 2 D-cell batteries (not included).
  • Compatibility: Designed to pump gas, water, oil, and other non-corrosive liquids.

Usage Features:

  • Battery-Operated Portability: The pump's reliance on D-cell batteries ensures it can be used in locations without access to electrical outlets, enhancing its versatility for outdoor or remote tasks.
  • Simple Operation: To operate, users simply insert two D-cell batteries, immerse the suction end into the liquid, place the discharge hose into the receiving container, and turn the switch to the "On" position.
  • Overflow Outlet: The pump includes an "Overflow Outlet" feature, which allows any liquid that backs up in the hose to drain from the bottom, preventing spills and ensuring safer operation. Users are advised to keep hands away from these points during operation.
  • Clear Hose: The discharge hose is clear, allowing users to visually monitor the flow of liquid.
  • Safety Precautions: The manual emphasizes several safety guidelines for proper usage, including:
    • Battery Cautions: Non-rechargeable batteries should not be recharged. All batteries used must be of the same brand and type. Mixing alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries is prohibited, as is mixing old and new batteries. Batteries should be removed when not in use and old batteries should be removed promptly.
    • Operational Cautions: Do not run the pump dry; it should only be switched on after the suction end is submerged in liquid. The pump should not be turned upside down after use. The pumping container should not be placed higher than the pump's battery housing. After use, the pump should be rinsed with water and stored only when thoroughly dry.
    • Flammable Liquids: A critical warning advises against using the pump near an open flame when pumping gasoline to prevent accidental fire and/or explosion.
    • General Safety: Users are instructed to wear safety equipment (eye protection, dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, hearing protection as appropriate), keep the work area clean and well lit, avoid operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and keep children away from the work area. Proper apparel should be worn to avoid entanglement with moving parts.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: To ensure better and safer performance, the Battery-Operated Liquid Transfer Pump should be kept clean. After each use, it should be rinsed with water and allowed to dry thoroughly before storage.
  • Storage: The pump should always be stored in a well-protected area, shielded from inclement weather, corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or other harmful elements. This helps prolong the life and maintain the functionality of the device.
  • Regular Inspection: Users are advised to regularly check the tool for damage, including loose, missing, or damaged parts, and to ensure it can perform its intended function correctly. Any damaged parts should be repaired by a qualified technician. If the pump appears damaged or operates abnormally, it should be removed from service immediately.
  • Label Maintenance: Labels and nameplates on the product carry important information and should be maintained. If unreadable or missing, replacements should be obtained from OEMTOOLS.

The OEMTOOLS Battery-Operated Liquid Transfer Pump is designed for professional use and requires adherence to all safety guidelines and operating instructions to ensure safe and effective liquid transfer.
