economy and easy starting.

is
, therefore, important
that
the recommenda-
tions made in this section regarding

Types
of
Oil-There
are four harmful deposits which
can
form in the crank-
case
of
an
engine; namely, sludge, varnish, moisture,
and
corrosive acids.
These deposits form
under
both
low
and
high speed driving conditions, but
generally form more rapidly in cold weather under short runs or city driving
conditions.
Motor
oils are available which contain the correct type
and
quantity
of
additives to minimize the
formation
of
these harmful deposits
and
also reduce wear
and
corrosion.
In selecting a
brand
of
engine oil, it
is
advisable to consider the reputation
of
the refiner
and
marketer
, as they are responsible for
the
quality
of
the
product
and
their reputation
is
the
car
owners best indication
of
quality.
To
obtain maximum performance and satisfaction from your car, it
is
important
to use only crankcase oils
that
have been proven, in service, to be satisfac-
tory
in
minimizing wear as well as sludge, varnish, and acidic deposits.
Motor
oils designated
"For
Service
MS"
or
"For
Service
DG"
are recom-
mended for use in your Rocket engine as they contain additives in sufficient
quantities
to minimize the formation
of
sludge, varnish, and acidic products
under normal driving conditions.
The following information describes the various types
of
oil now being
marketed
and
the reasons they should or should not be used in your Rocket
engine.
