IGNITION
SWITCH
The
ignition switch
is
a
combined
ignition switch,
starter
switch
and
acces-
sory switch.
It
is
"
off'
with
the
key
in
the
vertical
positon
.
Turning
the key
to the right turns
on
the ignition
and
closes the circuit to the
radio
and
heater.
To
start
the
engine
,
continue
turning
key
to
the
right
and
,
when
the
engine
starts, release the pressure
on
the key.
As a safety
measure
,
the
engine
will
not
start
unless
the
shift lever is in the
neutral
position.
To
operate
the
radio
and
heater
when
the engine is
off
,
turn
key to left from
"
off
' position.
Key
can
be removed only in the
"off'
position.
STARTING
THE
CAR
1.
Position
gear shift
or
selector lever
in
neutral
position.
2. Engine
Cold-
Depress
accelerator
pedal
to floor
once
,
then
release (this
presets
automatic
choke
and
throttle).
Engine
Warm-Hold
accelerator
approximately
one-third
open.
3.
Turn
ignition
key
clockwise
to
crank
engine
.
Release
pressure
on
key
when
engine starts.
4.
If
engine does
not
start
in
reasonable time,
hold
accelerator pedal to floor
(without
pumping)
while continuing to
crank
the
engine .
