Why is my Olsen oil burner sputtering at the nozzle?

  If your Olsen oil burner is sputtering at the nozzle, it could be due to: * Electrodes out of adjustment or defective: Check the electrode settings and inspect the electrodes for dirt build-up or cracks in the porcelain. * Poor igniter connections or a defective igniter: Check the contacts between the igniter and electrodes. If they're okay, replace the igniter. * A clogged fuel oil filter: Replace the fuel oil storage tank filter and/or the fuel oil in-line filter. * A defective oil pump: Check the burner motor and/or the fuel oil pump coupling. Check the oil pump pressure and replace the fuel oil pump if necessary. * A fuel oil line that is partially clogged or contains air: Bleed air from the oil line. If the problem persists, replace the oil line.
