Power
Switch
(POWER)
:
Press
once
to
turn
power
on
and
once
again
to
turn
power
off.
When
power
is
turned
on,
the
orange
band
above
the
power
switch
lights.
Servo
Operation
Indicator
(SERVO
OPERATION)
A
few
seconds
after
the
power
is
turned
on,
the
Servo
Operation
Indicator
lights
green
indicating
that
the
Super
Servo
circuitry
has
stabilized.
No
sound
is
heard
from
the
speakers
until
this
indi-
cator
lights.
Recording
Indicator
(RECORDING
OUT)
Lights
when
the
recording
output
switch
(9)
has
been
pressed
to
indicate
that
the
unit
is
in
the
record/dubbing
mode.
Output
Switch
and
Indicator
(OUTPUT)
Depress
this
switch
to
the
OFF
position
to
turn
off
the
output
from
the
rear
panel
output
termi-
nals
(OUTPUT
1,
2).
The
green
band
above
the
switch
lights
when
the
switch
is
in
the
ON
posi-
tion.
This
switch
should
normally
be
left
in
the
ON
position.
Use
the
OFF
position
when
you
want
to
listen
using
only
the
headphones,
or
to
mute
the
speakers
when
you
need
to
answer
the
telephone,
for
example.
Input
Selector
Switches
and
Indicators
Use
these
switches
to
select
the
desired
pro-
gram
source.
The
switches
are
interconnected;
depressing
one
causes
the
previously
depressed
one
to
come
up.
An
indicator
lights
to
show
which
source
has
been
selected.
PHONO:
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
turntable
connected
to
the
PHONO
input
terminals.
CD:
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
compact
disc
player
con-
nected
to
the
CD
input
ter-
minals.
TUNER:
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
tuner
connected
to
the
TUN-
ER
input
terminals.
LINE-1:
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
component
connected
to
the
LINE-1
input
terminals.

LINE-2:
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
component
connected
to
the
LINE-2
input
terminals.
TAPE-1
[DAT]:
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
tape
deck
connected
to
the
TAPE-1
input
terminals.
A
digital
audio
tape
recorder
(DAT)
should
be
connected
to
the
TAPE-1
input
terminals
rather
than
the
TAPE-2/3
terminals.
Depress
this
switch
to
listen
to
the
tape
deck
connected
to
the
TAPE-2
or
TAPE-3
input
termi-
nals
depending
on
the
position
of
the
tape
selector
switch
[13]
TAPE-2/3:
Volume
Control
(VOLUME)
Turn
clockwise
to
increase
the
volume
level.
The
volume
control
is
marked
in
decibels
so
out-
put
voltage
and
headphone
volume
can
be
read
off
directly
in
dB.
The
volume
control
is
linked
to
the
tone
control
circuitry.

to
the

the

Bass
and
Treble
Boosting
System”’
section
on
page
8
for
details.
Headphone
Jack
(PHONES)
Insert
a
standard
stereo
headphone
plug
into
this
jack
and
adjust
the
volume
using
the
vol-
ume
control
[6]
.
Output-2
Level
Controls
(QUTPUT-2
LEVEL)
Use
these
controls
to
adjust
the
output
levels
of
the
OUTPUT-2
terminals
on
the
back
panel.
The
left
and
right
channels
are
independent
of
each
other,
so
these
controls
can
also
be
used
to
ad-
just
the
balance.
Recording
Output
Switch
(RECORDING
OUTPUT)
Depress
this
switch
to
the
ON
position
when
you
wish
to
perform
recording
or
dubbing.
The
recording
indicator
[3]
lights
indicating
that
a
signal
is
being
routed
to
the
REC
output
ter-
minals.
Mode
Switches
(MODE)
Depress
these
switches
to
change
the
output
At
signal
from
the
OUTPUT-1
or
OUTPUT-2
output
terminals
from
stereo
to
mono.
OUTPUT-1
and
OUTPUT-2
can
be
controlled
indenendently.

Recording
Source
Selectors
(REC.
SELECTOR)
This
unit
is
equipped
with
separate
recording
source
selectors
for
tape
decks
1
and
2&3
so
that
three
decks
can
be
used
to
record
two
different
program
sources
simultaneously
while
you
are
listening
to
yet
another
program
source.
PHONO:
Use
when
recording
from
the
turntable.
CD:
For
recording
from
the
compact
disc
player.
TUNER:
For
recording
from
the
tuner.
LINE-1:
For
recording
from
the
compo-
nent
connected
to
the
LINE-1
in-
put
terminals.
LINE-2:
For
recording
from
the
compo-
nent
connected
to
the
LINE-2
in-
put
terminals.

Selector
(TAPE
SELECTOR)
Use
this
selector
to
switch
between
the
TAPE-2

Bass
Selector
Switch
(BASS
SELECTOR)
Use
this
switch
to
select
the
bass
frequencies
affected
by
the
bass
control
[15],
When
the
switch
is
in
the
depressed
position,
the
bass
control affects
the
low
bass
frequencies.
When
it
is
in
the
out
position,
the
mid
bass
is
affected
by
the
bass
control.
Bass
Control
(BASS)
Turn
to
the
right
of
the
center
(DEFEAT)
mark
to
emphasize
bass
and
turn
to
the
left
to
attenuate
bass.
Adjust
to
the
setting
appropriate
for
the
acoustics
of
your
listening
room
and
your
own
preference.
Treble
Control
(TREBLE)
Turn
to
the
right
of
the
center
(DEFEAT)
mark
to
emphasize
treble
and
turn
to
the
left
to
attenuate
