not cut properly
Insufficient chain
tension
Tension the chain. See “Tensioning the Saw Chain”
in the “Preparing for Use” section of the manual.
Dull chain See “Sharpening with PowerSharp®”.
Chain installed
backwards
Install the chain with the teeth facing the correct
direction. See “Replacing a Worn Saw Chain and
Sharpening Stone”.
Worn chain
Replace the chain. See “Replacing a Worn Saw
Chain and Sharpening Stone”.
Dry or excessively
stretched chain
Check the oil level. Refill oil reservoir if necessary.

Chain not in bar groove
Reseat chain onto groove. See “Replacing a Worn
Saw Chain and Sharpening Stone”.
Bar and chain
excessively hot
and/or smoking
Chain is under-
lubricated
