Why is my Oster BVSTEM7200 Coffee Maker espresso not pouring?
    • J
      Joseph ThompsonAug 3, 2025
If your Oster Coffee Maker is not pouring espresso, there might be no water in the water reservoir. Fill the reservoir with water and run water through the machine without a filter basket to ensure it is fully primed. Alternatively, the group head or the dual wall filter baskets may be blocked. See the descaling section for instructions on how to unblock the group head, or use the cleaning pin to unblock the filter basket. Finally, the coffee grounds may be too fine or tamped down too hard. Empty the filter basket, rinse under water, wipe the group head with a cloth, and refill the filter with properly ground and tamped coffee.

What to do if Portafilter comes off Oster Coffee Maker during espresso pour?
    • J
      Jeffrey BrownAug 7, 2025
If the portafilter comes off during espresso pour, or espresso squirts out of the group head, or espresso trickles down the side of the portafilter, ensure all three tabs of the portafilter are fully inserted into the group head and rotated to the center position. The coffee grind might be too fine, so change to a coarser grind, or the coffee grinds might be tamped too hard, so tamp the grinds more lightly. Make sure that the top edge of the filter is free of coffee grinds, so clean around the top edge of the filter and wipe the group head clean. If the group head is dirty, wipe it with a damp cloth and clean the seal, including the bayonet corner areas, with a brush to remove grinds. If the group head rubber seal is damaged or worn, contact Calphalon Customer Care.

Why does my Oster Coffee Maker espresso taste burnt?
    • H
      hhaleyAug 12, 2025
If your espresso tastes burnt, it could be due to the type of coffee being used; try different brands of coffee. Also, using the steam function just before pouring an espresso shot can cause this issue. Allow time for the thermoblock to purge steam and cool down before pouring a shot of espresso. The STEAM LIGHT should have finished flashing and the READY LIGHT should be fully illuminated.

How to fix espresso that pours out in drips from my Oster BVSTEM7200 Coffee Maker?
    • M
      Michael OrtizAug 16, 2025
If your espresso pours out in drips, the grinds may be too fine, so change to a coarser grind. It is also possible that the coffee is tamped too hard; tamp the grinds more lightly. The machine may also have scale build up, see Descaling Section, pages 26-27.

Why doesn't my Oster Coffee Maker espresso have crema?
    • L
      leonjoanAug 20, 2025
If your espresso does not have any crema, it might be because the beans are old or pre-ground grinds are dry, so use fresh beans and grinds, and store pre-ground grinds in an airtight container. The grinds might also not be compacted enough, so tamp more firmly. Also, the grinds might be too coarse, so use a finer grind coffee.

    Tracy MoranAug 25, 2025
Why is the cup filling unevenly with my Oster BVSTEM7200?
    • M
      Mr. Mark RowlandAug 25, 2025
An uneven cup filling is caused by uneven tamping or an obstruction in the pouring spouts. Ensure coffee is tamped evenly and check there is nothing obstructing the pouring spouts.

What to do if used espresso puck is wet in my Oster BVSTEM7200?
    • J
      Joshua ReynoldsAug 28, 2025
If the used espresso puck is wet, this can occur with Dual Wall Filter Baskets. Keep the portafilter in the group head until milk frothing is finished; this will give more time for the water to dissipate.
