Overview

The Ozito Cordless Chain & Blade Sharpener (model OPCS-036) is a versatile 3.6V Lithium-ion tool designed for sharpening chainsaw chains, mower blades, and garden shears. This compact and portable device offers a convenient solution for maintaining the sharpness of various cutting tools, ensuring optimal performance and extending their lifespan.

Function Description:

The primary function of this device is to sharpen cutting edges. It achieves this by utilizing interchangeable accessories such as diamond sharpening bits for chainsaw chains and grinding stones for blades. The tool features a variable speed control, allowing users to adjust the rotational speed of the accessory to suit the specific sharpening task and material. A spindle lock button facilitates easy and secure accessory changes. The device is cordless, powered by a 1.5Ah Li-ion battery, offering freedom of movement during operation. Charging can be done via the included AC adaptor with a USB port or directly from a USB outlet using the provided USB cable. An integrated battery charge indicator keeps the user informed about the battery's status.

  4. Tighten the collet nut using the spindle lock and wrench to secure the accessory.

Fitting Sharpening Guides:

  • Chainsaw Sharpening Guide:
    1. Select a diamond sharpening wheel slightly smaller than the gap in the chainsaw blade.

  • Charging: The device can be charged using the AC Adaptor (plugging the USB cable into the adaptor and then into mains power) or directly from a USB outlet (plugging the USB cable into the charging input and then into a USB outlet). The red LED illuminates during charging, and the green LED indicates a full charge.

  • Variable Speed Control: The default speed setting is "3" when switched on. Use the "+" button to increase speed (up to 6) and the "-" button to reduce speed (down to 1).

Sharpening Chainsaw Chain:

  1. Ensure the chainsaw sharpening guide and correct sized sharpening bit are fitted securely.
  2. Mark one chainsaw tooth to identify the starting position.
  3. Align the portable chainsaw sharpener accessory with the gap in the first chainsaw tooth, adjusting the sharpener's angle to match the cutting edge (typically 30-35°).
  4. Start the tool away from the chain, then switch it on (speed 4 or 5 recommended).
  5. Slide the tool in and out against the cutting edge of the chain tooth (1 or 2 passes usually sufficient).
  6. Rotate the chain and repeat steps 3-5 for all teeth until the marked starting tooth is reached, ensuring the same number of passes on each tooth for consistent material removal.
    • Caution: Placing excessive load on the sharpener at low speeds may cause overheating and motor failure.

Sharpening Blades (Mower Blades, Garden Shears):

  1. Ensure the blade sharpening guide and grinding stone are fitted securely.
  2. Secure the blade with a clamp and switch the tool on (speed 4 or 5 recommended).
  3. Rest the angled surface of the blade sharpening guide against the underside of the blade.
  4. Carefully lower the grinding stone onto the blade and slide along the entire edge (only a few passes are necessary).

  • Cleaning: Keep ventilation vents clean and free from foreign matter. After each use, blow air through the housing to remove dust. If the enclosure needs cleaning, use a moist soft cloth; do not use solvents or immerse the tool in liquid.
  • Cord Replacement: If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized agent to avoid safety hazards.
  • General Power Tool Safety: Always follow general power tool safety warnings, including work area safety, electrical safety, and personal safety precautions. This includes wearing eye protection, keeping the work area clean, and ensuring the tool is switched off before making adjustments or changing accessories.
