Panasonic Tumble Dryer (Model No. NH-S7NC1)

This document describes the Panasonic Tumble Dryer, Model No. NH-S7NC1, designed for household use. It provides essential information regarding its operation, installation, and maintenance, ensuring optimum performance and safety.

Function Description

The Panasonic Tumble Dryer is designed to dry clothes efficiently. It offers both "High" and "Low" heat settings, allowing users to select the appropriate temperature for different fabric types. The dryer also features an "Air Dry" function, which refreshes clothes with air from drum rotation without heating, suitable for delicate items or for a cool-down period. The timer selector knob allows users to set drying times, with options for up to 200 minutes for hot drying and 80 minutes for air drying. A "Cool Down" period is automatically included in the drying cycle to ensure items are quickly removed and spread out so that heat is dissipated.

Usage Features

Preparation for Drying: Before loading clothes, users should check ventilation, remove foreign objects from pockets, and use laundry nets for delicate items. Fasteners, hooks, and metal buttons should be closed, and strings tied. Turning items inside out can help prevent static electricity, and fabric softener is recommended during washing.

Drying Settings: The dryer offers "High" for ordinary clothes and "Low" for delicate items. The timer can be set for specific durations. The "Air Dry" function is available for refreshing clothes without heat.

Items that cannot be dried: Certain items should not be placed in the dryer to prevent damage to the clothing or the appliance. These include:

  • Woollen clothing, feather, and other protein fibre materials.
  • Leather/fur.
  • Silk, rayon, and cupro (blended fabric).
  • Tights or pantyhose.
  • Starched clothing.
  • Items with "P" or other specific marks indicating they are not suitable for tumble drying.
  • Mats and other items with pet hair attached.
  • Cushions, pillows, quilts.
  • Urethane/rubber backed or thick mats.
  • Clothing with lace or embroidery, new synthetic fibres, printed clothes, etc.
  • Wrinkled and embossed articles, crepe fabric, deformable clothing (blazers, ties, dresses, etc.), and velvet.
  • Sports shoes and clothes that should not be spin-dried.
  • Leather or plastic goods sensitive to heat.
  • Items soiled with flammable materials (cooking oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, spot removers, turpentine, waxes, wax removers, and cosmetic oils).
  • Items made of rubber (foam rubber, shower caps, waterproof textiles, airtight fabrics, rubber-backed articles, or pillows fitted with foam rubber pads).
  • Unwashed items.
  • Dripping wet clothing.

Safety Precautions:

  • Children: The appliance is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities without supervision. Children should not play with the appliance, and stools or other objects should not be left near it. Do not hang from the appliance.
  • Electrical Safety: Do not touch with wet hands. Do not hold or pull on the cord. Ensure the plug is fully inserted and the ground prong is securely inserted into an appropriate socket. Do not bind, twist, or bend the power cord, or pinch it by the dryer stand or appliance. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or service agent. In case of failure or damaged power cord, stop use and contact an electrical technician.
  • Fire/Electric Shock/Failure Prevention: Keep away from flammable materials. Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the appliance yourself. Ensure all pockets are empty before drying. Do not obstruct the openings of the bottom face with carpet, etc.
  • Injury Prevention: Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. Be careful not to get fingers caught. Do not climb on the appliance. Do not touch when hot.
  • Installation: Install the appliance correctly. The appliance must not be installed behind a lockable door, a sliding door, or a door with a hinge on the opposite side that would restrict full opening of the appliance door.
  • Fabric Softeners: Use fabric softeners or similar products as specified by the fabric softener instructions.

Maintenance Features

Appliance Cleaning: If the appliance gets dirty, wipe it with a soft damp cloth. For heavy soil, a mild kitchen detergent can be used. Do not use gritty cleaners, thinners, or products containing alcohol or paraffin oil, as these may damage the appliance.

Lint Filter and Exhaust Filter Cleaning: The lint filters must be cleaned frequently to prevent lint accumulation, which can cause fire and reduce drying performance. The exhaust filter and exhaust vent cover should also be cleaned regularly.

Cleaning Procedure:

  • Exhaust vent cover: Pull while turning to remove. Push it into the dryer while turning to attach.
  • Lint filter: Pull while turning to remove. Push it into the base to attach.
  • When cleaning the filters, do not rub strongly, as this may damage the filter.

Air Intake Cover Cleaning: The air intake cover should be cleaned once a month using a vacuum cleaner.

Ventilation Check: Regularly check ventilation to ensure proper airflow, as inadequate ventilation can cause room temperature and humidity to rise during drying. Open windows near the machine or turn on a ventilator during drying.

Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for common issues:

  • Dryer does not start: Check power cut, "0/關" setting, ensure door is closed, plug is fully inserted, and dry time is set.
  • Hot air is not blowing out: Possible cause is "Cool Down" or "Air Dry" setting. Try setting to "Hot".
  • Drying is insufficient/uneven: Possible causes include drying during "Air Dry" setting, dirty filters, too much clothing, or not using a washing machine spin dry. Solutions include setting to "Air Dry", cleaning filters, reducing clothing amount, and spin drying in a washing machine. Untangle clothes and check the location.

Installation: The dryer can be set up as a set-in installation or installed on a dryer stand (N-U168U, sold separately). For stand installation, follow the instructions provided with the stand. Ensure the location is checked for adequate ventilation.
