Open
the
Battery
Compartment
Cover
and
insert
six
UM-1
(R-20)
batteries,
being
careful
to
place
them
for
correct
plus
(+)
and
minus
(—)
polarity,
as
indicated
in
the
Battery
Compartment.

When
the
batteries
are
inserted,
they
should
be
placed
on
top
of
the red
band
in
the
Battery
Compartment
in
order
to
facilitate
later
removal
of
the
batteries.

the
batteries
are
flat,
the
tape
speed
will
slow
down
markedly,
the
sound
will
be
distorted,
and
you
will not be able to turn the volume up high.
Set
the
Meter
Selector
Switch
to
the
“TUNING/BATTERY”
position
and
depress
the
Playback
Button.
If
fewer
than
4
LEDs
light
up
as
in
the
figure,
it
means
it
is
time
to
replace
all
the
batteries
with
new
ones.

Selector

being
used,

LEDs
may
light

however,
indicate
that
anything
is
wrong
