Function Description

The Panasonic OLED TV is a smart television designed for home entertainment. It supports high-definition multimedia, including 4K and HDR content, and offers a range of connectivity options for external devices and internet services.

Key Functions:

  • High-Quality Display: Features an OLED panel for superior picture quality, deep blacks, and vibrant colors. It supports 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) and HDR (High Dynamic Range) for an immersive viewing experience.
  • Smart TV Capabilities: Integrates with internet services, allowing access to popular streaming platforms like Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video, as well as other applications via the "MY APP" and "APPS" buttons.
  • Voice Control: Equipped with a voice control microphone, enabling users to change channels, adjust volume, search for programs, and perform internet searches using voice commands. The Google Assistant function may also be available, depending on the region.
  • Connectivity: Offers multiple HDMI ports (including HDMI 1 and 2 with 4K120Hz, VRR, AMD FreeSync™ Premium, and eARC/ARC support), USB ports (USB 1 for SuperSpeed USB 3.0, USB 2/3 for Hi-Speed USB 2.0), an Ethernet terminal for wired network connection, and built-in wireless LAN (IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac) for wireless connectivity.
  • Audio Features: Provides a total speaker output of 30 W (15 W x 2) and a headphone/subwoofer jack for external audio devices. It supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio for enhanced sound.
  • Recording Functionality: Allows connection of a USB HDD to the USB 1 port for recording content.
  • VIERA Link ("HDAVI Control"): Enables integrated operation with compatible Panasonic equipment connected via HDMI.
  • Digital and Analogue TV Reception: Supports DVB-S/S2 for satellite reception and UHF/VHF for digital and analogue terrestrial broadcasts.

Usage Features

Initial Setup:

  • First-time Auto Tuning: Guides users through selecting language, viewing environment (Home/Shop), setting up network connection, and tuning TV signal modes (Satellite, Digital TV, Analogue TV).
  • Pedestal Assembly: Instructions are provided for assembling the pedestal, with different styles for 48-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch models. It emphasizes firm insertion and secure tightening of screws.
  • Wall-hanging Bracket Installation: Details the screw depth and diameter (M6) for wall-hanging bracket installation, recommending professional installation by a Panasonic dealer or licensed contractor to ensure safety and maintain warranty.
  • Cable Arrangement: Provides guidance on fixing cables using cable covers and cable clamps to keep connections tidy and prevent damage.

Remote Control and Navigation:

  • Remote Control Functions: A comprehensive overview of the remote control buttons, including power, picture mode, input selection, volume, channel, numeric buttons, colored buttons for various functions, and dedicated buttons for streaming services (Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video).
  • eHELP (Built-in Operating Instructions): Access to detailed operating instructions directly on the TV, covering various features and settings. Users can navigate through menus to find information on specific topics.
  • Voice Control Activation: Pressing the voice control button activates the voice service, allowing users to interact with the TV using spoken commands. Registration of the remote control (pairing) is required for voice control functionality via Bluetooth®.

Picture and Sound Adjustments:

  • HDMI Auto Setting: Allows adjustment of HDMI input modes (Mode1, Mode2, Mode3) to optimize image reproduction for 4K/HDR compatible equipment, supporting expanded color gamut and higher frame rates.
  • VRR/AMD FreeSync™ Premium: Enables smoother gaming experience with low latency by setting [VRR] to [On] in the Picture > Option Settings.
  • Ambient Sensor: Automatically adjusts picture brightness based on ambient light conditions when enabled in the Picture menu.
  • Headphone/Subwoofer Output: Users can select between headphone or subwoofer output for the 3.5 mm stereo mini jack.

Safety and Stability:

  • Fall Prevention: Recommendations to secure the pedestal to furniture using fall-prevention parts (screw and band) to prevent the TV from falling over, especially in households with children.
  • Ventilation: Emphasizes the importance of allowing sufficient space (at least 10 cm) around the TV for proper ventilation to prevent overheating.
  • Mains Plug and Lead: Warnings against damaging the mains lead, touching it with wet hands, and ensuring it is easily accessible for complete power disconnection.

Maintenance Features

Panel Maintenance:

  • Automatic Panel Maintenance: The TV performs normal panel maintenance automatically (approx. 10 minutes) and regular maintenance (approx. 80 minutes) as needed. During maintenance, the LED turns orange.
  • Image Retention Prevention: Advises against displaying still images for long periods to prevent "image retention" on the OLED screen. Features like screen savers and OLED logo movement are activated to mitigate this. Setting [Logo Luminance Control] to [Max] is also recommended.
  • Screen Dimming: The screen may dim when a motionless image is displayed, which is a normal function to prevent image retention. Brightness returns to normal when active images are displayed.
  • Panel Adjustment: A white horizontal line may appear on the screen in Standby mode for a while to adjust the panel, which is not a malfunction.

Cleaning:

  • Regular Care: Gently wipe the display panel, cabinet, and pedestal with a soft cloth to remove dirt and fingerprints.
  • Stubborn Dirt: For stubborn dirt, first clean dust, then dampen a soft cloth with clean water or diluted neutral detergent (1 part detergent to 100 parts water), wring it firmly, wipe the dirt, and finally wipe away all moisture.
  • Cautions: Avoid using hard cloths, rubbing too hard, or exposing surfaces to insect repellent, solvents, thinners, or other volatile substances, as these can degrade surface quality or cause paint peeling. The display panel is specially treated and can be easily damaged, so avoid tapping or scratching it. Do not allow rubber or PVC substances to contact the cabinet and pedestal for long periods.
  • Mains Plug: Wipe the mains plug with a dry cloth regularly to prevent moisture and dust accumulation, which could cause fire or electrical shock.

Battery Maintenance for Remote Control:

  • Replacement: Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent type. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
  • Disposal: Dispose of batteries correctly.
  • Storage: Remove batteries from the unit if not used for a prolonged period to prevent leakage, corrosion, and explosion.
  • Safety: Keep batteries out of reach of children to prevent swallowing. Seek medical attention immediately if a child is suspected of swallowing a battery.
