Pet Immunity
General Description
Thank you for choosing the NV37M for your professional protection
needs. The NV37M wired version will provide you the most advanced
window and sliding door protection either in Pet Immune or Sharp
mode. If you have any comments, please write to us at Paradox.com/

Recommended Installations (please read)
Outdoor installation permits placements within frames of sliding
windows or doors and presumes protection from raindrops. This
ensures best catch performance, anti-masking ability, and pet alarm
immunity.
Other installations are possible but in outdoor conditions, pet immunity
can decrease. Moreover, space near the detector must be clear from
obstacles from a distance of 30 to 40 cm (11.8 to 15.7 in.) within its
pattern.
Installing the NV37M
1. Remove the NV37M front cover - open the Captive screw.
2. Remove the Main Unit - open the two snap-lock mechanisms on
each side of the back cover attaching the Main Unit to the back
cover, then remove the Main Unit.
3. Pull the wires from the control panel through the knockout holes
and mount the back cover onto the window frame or wall using
screws.
Note: PLEASE KEEP AT LEAST 4 cm / 1.5 in. clearance from
window/shutter.
4. Attach the Main Unit to the back cover - ensure the locks snap
closed.
5. Connect the wires to the terminal blocks according to the following
wiring assignment.

7. Replace the front cover and close the Captive screw.
Note: Do not obscure the detector's field of view.
Testing the NV37M
Perform a Walk-Test to test successful installation:
1. Walk slowly across the far end of the detection range.
2. Ensure detection.
Walk test mode lasts 5 minutes after the tamper screw is closed.

Overview

The Paradox NV37M is an advanced outdoor/indoor dual detector designed for window and sliding door protection, featuring anti-masking and pet immunity. This wired device offers professional-grade security, providing either Pet Immune or Sharp mode operation to suit various environmental needs.

Function Description

The NV37M functions as a security sensor that detects movement within its defined range, specifically tailored for windows and sliding doors. It utilizes dual infrared elements to identify motion, differentiating between human intruders and common disturbances like pets. The detector offers two primary operational modes:

  • Pet Immunity Mode: In this mode, the device is designed to ignore pets up to approximately 50cm in size, preventing false alarms caused by animals. This is particularly useful in residential settings where pets might roam freely.
  • Sharp Mode: This mode provides a more sensitive detection, suitable for environments where even small movements need to be identified, or where pet immunity is not a primary concern.

A key feature of the NV37M is its anti-masking capability. This function actively detects attempts to obstruct the detector's field of view, such as covering it with material or spraying it with liquid. If a pre-masking situation or a real mask is detected, the device will indicate this condition, ensuring that the detector remains operational and cannot be easily bypassed by intruders.

The detector provides various indications through its LED display and terminal outputs:

  • Alarm Indication: Signals when an intrusion is detected.
  • Fault Indication: Notifies of any internal issues or malfunctions.
  • Tamper Indication: Alerts if the device's casing is opened or tampered with.
  • Anti-mask Indication: Specifically signals masking attempts.

The device's sensitivity can be adjusted to fine-tune its detection performance based on the specific installation environment and desired level of security.

Usage Features

The NV37M is designed for flexible installation, suitable for both outdoor and indoor environments.

  • Outdoor Installation: Recommended for placement within frames of sliding windows or doors. This setup is optimized for rain protection, ensuring reliable catch performance, anti-masking ability, and pet alarm immunity. When installed outdoors, it's crucial to ensure a clear space of 30 to 40 cm (11.8 to 15.7 in.) around the detector within its pattern to avoid interference.
  • Indoor Installation: While possible, outdoor conditions might reduce pet immunity.

The device offers several configurable settings to adapt to different security requirements:

  • LED Control: The LED indicator can be turned on or off. When on, it provides visual feedback on the detector's status, including tamper events, PIR sensitivity level, alarm detection, booting, and anti-masking status.
  • Mode Selection: Users can switch between Pet Immunity mode and Sharp mode using a dip switch, allowing customization based on the presence of pets or the need for heightened sensitivity.
  • Anti-masking Enable/Disable: The anti-masking feature can be enabled or disabled, providing flexibility depending on the security needs and potential for obstruction.
  • Anti-masking Sensitivity: When anti-masking is enabled, its sensitivity can be set to high or low, allowing for further fine-tuning to prevent false anti-masking alarms while maintaining effective protection.
  • Sensitivity Trimmer: A dedicated trimmer allows for precise adjustment of the detection range, with options for 3m/5m, 5m/7m, and 7.5m/10m settings, ensuring optimal coverage for various window and door sizes.

Installation involves mounting the back cover onto the window frame or wall, ensuring a minimum clearance of 4 cm / 1.5 in. from the window/shutter. Wires are connected to terminal blocks for power, alarm, fault, and tamper signals. The main unit then attaches to the back cover, and the front cover is secured with a captive screw.

Maintenance Features

The NV37M is designed for straightforward maintenance and testing to ensure continuous optimal performance.

  • Walk-Test Mode: After installation and configuration, a walk-test is performed to verify successful detection. This involves walking slowly across the far end of the detection range to confirm that the detector triggers an alarm. The walk-test mode remains active for 5 minutes after the tamper screw is closed, allowing ample time for verification.
  • LED Status Indicators: The LED display provides clear visual feedback on various operational states, which is crucial for troubleshooting and verifying the detector's health:
    • Tamper Open: Green LED flashes for 0.3 seconds every 30 seconds.
    • PIR Sensitivity Level Setting: Green LED flashes 1-3 times, indicating the selected sensitivity level.
    • Alarm Detection: Red LED illuminates for 2 seconds.
    • Booting/Tamper Close: Green/Red LEDs alternate flashes for 30 seconds.
    • Anti-mask Detection:
      • Flashing Orange: Indicates a pre-mask situation (ON/OFF 3 times).
      • Solid Orange: Signals a real mask detection, remaining solid "ON" as long as the mask is present. This immediate visual feedback helps in quickly identifying and addressing masking attempts.

These indicators simplify the process of monitoring the detector's status and quickly diagnosing any issues, reducing the need for complex diagnostic tools. The robust design, with an IP54 outdoor protection rating, ensures durability and resistance to environmental factors, minimizing the need for frequent physical maintenance. The captive screw for the front cover ensures secure closure and easy access when needed for adjustments or internal checks.
