When the unit is used in a ducted application, the blower speed is increased to compensate for the static
pressure loss of the ductwork. After the ductwork is installed, and with the unit operating, measure the current
ow to the unit using an amprobe. The ampere reading should not exceed the FLA rating stamped on the
motor nameplate. If current ow is excessive, reduce the blower speed by adjusting the variable pitch sheave
on the motor. (In order to avoid motor overload, a starter must be installed by the customer - not supplied as
part of the air cleaner.)
4.4 Air Diffuser
The four-way adjustable air diffuser grille can be set to any open position desirable.
A. Unducted Installation (for area capture):
Air diffuser should be set for maximum contaminant capture and even dispersion of clean air.
The pattern should be that suggested by Parker or your local representative.
B. Ducted Installation (for direct capture):
Air diffuser can be set to any position that is compatible with personnel comfort.
5. Unit Operation
After the unit has been installed in accordance with Section 4, switch the unit on. Adjust air diffuser grille per
Section 4.4.
The lter monitor (0-5” differential pressure gauge), located on the side of the unit, indicates when internal
lters need cleaning or replacement.
6. Maintenance
Moving Parts – Disconnect power before servicing.
Each air cleaner is a self-contained air handling system. Standard units have no intermittent electrical
contacts and the only mechanical parts subject to wear and tear are motor and blower bearings, pulleys
and belts. Properly aligned and adjusted, these components should yield years of trouble-free service.
6.1 Check the Following Monthly:
A. Belt Tension: One-half inch deflection at midpoint between pulleys indicates correct tension.
Adjust as necessary.
B. Belt Wear: Frayed edges and stress cracks in belt walls signal belt wear. Replace as required.
C. Unit Noise: Higher than normal noise indicates abnormal belt or bearing wear. Where motor bearings
are regreasable, lubricate yearly. Where motor bearings are not regreasable and for all blower
bearings (bearings are sealed), excessive noise may indicate bearings need to be replaced.
Note: Periodically vacuum the cabinet interior and blower compartment. Wipe off exhaust louvers when
changing filters.
