Do you have a question about the Parkside PMS 160 C2 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The device described in this manual is a Multi-Sander, model PMS 160 C2, designed for dry sanding of wood, metal, plastic, fillers, and painted surfaces. It is not intended for commercial use.

Function Description:

The multi-sander is equipped with a sanding plate (6) that uses a Velcro fastening system for quick attachment and removal of sanding sheets (9). It features a dust extraction system, which can be used with an internal dust collection box (7) or an external dust extraction adaptor (8) connected to a suitable vacuum cleaner. The device is operated via an on/off switch (1) and includes a hand rest (2) for user comfort. Ventilation slots (3) are present to prevent overheating.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Rated input voltage (U): 230 V~, 50 Hz
  • Power input (P): 160 W
  • Idling speed (n0): 13000 min-1
  • Oscillation rate (n): 26000 min-1
  • Weight (without accessories): approx. 1.0 kg
  • Protection class: II (Double insulation)
  • Protection category: IPX0
  • Sound pressure level (LpA): 76 dB; KpA= 3 dB
  • Sound power level (LWA): 87 dB; KWA = 3 dB
  • Vibration (ah): 9 m/s2; K= 1.5 m/s2

The specified vibration and noise emission values are measured according to a standardised test method and can be used for comparison with other power tools. Actual values may vary depending on usage and material. Safety measures should be determined based on an estimate of the actual vibration load during real operating conditions.

Usage Features:

  • Switching On/Off: The device is switched on by flicking the on/off switch (1) to position "I" and off to position "0".
  • Sanding Sheet Attachment: Sanding sheets (9) are pressed evenly onto the sanding plate (6), ensuring they lie flush and the holes align with the suction openings (10).
  • Dust Collection: The dust collection box (7) connects to the dust extraction connector (4) and is fastened by turning clockwise. It should be emptied regularly for optimal suction. Alternatively, an external dust extraction adaptor (8) can be connected to a vacuum cleaner (not supplied) for more efficient dust removal.
  • Sanding Technique: The device should be moved against the workpiece only once it is switched on. After machining, the sanding disc should be lifted before turning off the device. The mains cable should always be led away from the back of the device. Work with low and even pressure on the hand rest (2) and consistent forward pressure to protect the appliance and sanding sheet. Rough corners and edges can be sanded using the tip or side edge of the sanding sheet.
  • Sanding Sheet Selection: Different grain sizes are recommended for various applications:
    • P 60 / P 80: For pre-sanding rough wood surfaces.
    • P 120 / P 180: For plain sanding.
    • P 240: For fine sanding of primed and painted surfaces.
  • Safety Precautions: Always wear safety goggles, safety gloves, and respiratory protection. Ensure the workplace is well-ventilated. Do not sand lead or asbestos-containing materials. Avoid overheating the workpiece and the sander. Do not use the device without a dust collection box or external dust extraction.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The ventilation slots (3), motor housing, and handles should be kept clean using a damp cloth or brush. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. The sanding sheet should be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner or by knocking it out.
  • Dust Bag Cleaning: The dust bag (15) inside the dust collection box (7) should be checked regularly for dirt. To clean, remove the cover (16) and pull the dust bag (15) from the adapter (13). Shake it out thoroughly, wash it with lukewarm water and soap, and let it dry before reattaching. Heavily soiled or damaged dust bags should be replaced.
  • Storage: Store the device in a dry, dust-protected place, out of reach of children. Empty the dust collection box before storing.
  • Repair Service: Repairs not covered by the guarantee can be carried out by the service branch for a fee. Only original spare parts should be used to ensure the safety of the power tool.
  • Waste Disposal: The device, accessories, and packaging should be returned to a recycling centre for environmentally sound disposal. Electrical appliances must not be disposed of with domestic waste.
