EINSTEIN
by Paul C. Buff
PORTABLE POWER
For portable, battery power, we recommend the use of our Vagabond Mini™ Portable Power
System (sold separately, visit our website at www.paulcbuff.com/vagabond.php to learn more).
The Vagabond Mini™ Lithium system provides a reliable, portable, current-limited, true sine
wave power source for one to four Paul C. Buff™ ash units.
Standard 120V Vagabond Mini™ Lithium System: When using the Einstein™ unit with the standard,
supplied UPC15 power cord (120 Vac), the unit plugs into one of the standard outlets on the
120V Vagabond Mini™ Lithium system.
International 230V Vagabond Mini™ Lithium System: When using the Einstein™ unit internationally,
with a Chinese/Australian Type I power cord (230 Vac), the unit plugs into one of the outlets on
the 230V Vagabond Mini™ Lithium system.
The design of the Einstein™ unit allows crash-free operation of multiple units from the Vagabond
Mini™ Lithium system and other current-limited, pure sine wave battery inverter supplies from
other manufacturers. The Einstein™ unit can tolerate momentary power line voltages as low
as 35 Vac from our older Vagabond™ II portable power system or from other similar pure
sine inverters without crashing, whereas many competitive digital ash units crash if the input
voltage falls below 80 to 90 Vac.
Note:
An idle Einstein™ unit draws 9 watts from the battery; when switched off, the unit still draws
4 watts. To save battery life, turn off the Vagabond Mini™ Lithium system during prolonged
setups between shots.

nostics screen in the lower left corner. To ensure that you have the most up-to-date rmware
for your unit, visit the Einstein™ product page on our website (www.paulcbuff.com/einstein.

rmware along with information about the updates. With the download, we provide instructions
for downloading and installing the rmware on your Einstein™ ash unit.
