EASY-SMALL è un apparecchio
che avvia ed arresta
l’elettropompa su cui è installato
sostituendo i tradizionali sistemi
a pressostato / autoclave.
La pompa viene avviata quando,
all’apertura di un rubinetto, la
pressione dell’impianto scende
sotto la “pressione di
ripartenza“ (Pm), e viene
fermata quando la portata
richiesta si azzera o

EASY-SMALL presenta due
uscite filettate 1 BSP femmina,
poste a 90° tra loro, per
poter applicare direttamente
al dispositivo un vasetto di
espansione, utile nei casi in cui
l’impianto presenti sgocciolii,

Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the PEDROLLO 50066/415P and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The EASY-SMALL is an electronic pressure and flow switch designed to automate the operation of an electric pump, replacing traditional pressure switch and autoclave systems. It initiates pump operation when a tap is opened and the system pressure drops below the "restart pressure" (Pm). The pump stops when the required flow rate drops to zero or below the "stop flow rate" (Qa).

The device's electronics protect the pump from anomalous operating conditions such as dry running or frequent starts caused by leaks in the system. It features two 1" BSP female threaded outlets, positioned at 90° to each other, allowing for direct connection of an expansion vessel. This is particularly useful in cases of dripping systems to prevent continuous restarts of the EASY-SMALL.

Safety Regulations:

Before installing and using the EASY-SMALL, it is crucial to read the entire manual carefully. Installation and maintenance must be performed by qualified personnel responsible for hydraulic and electrical connections in accordance with applicable regulations. PEDROLLO disclaims all responsibility for damages resulting from improper use of the product or from maintenance/repairs performed by unqualified personnel or with non-original spare parts. The use of non-original spare parts, tampering, or improper use will void the 24-month warranty from the date of purchase.

During the first installation, ensure that:

  • There is no voltage on the electrical supply network.
  • Electrical cables are adequate for the maximum current.
  • Cable glands and the board cover are correctly assembled and tightened (refer to the Electrical Connections section).
  • The electrical supply network is equipped with a suitable protection device (fuses or magnetothermal relay) upstream of the EASY-SMALL.

For maintenance, ensure that:

  • The system is not under pressure (open a tap).
  • There is no voltage on the electrical supply network.

Emergency Stop:

While the pump is running, an emergency stop can be performed by pressing the START/STOP button. This will put the EASY-SMALL into an "OUT OF SERVICE" condition.

Operating Conditions:

  • Allowed/Disallowed Fluids: The EASY-SMALL can be used with clean water and chemically non-aggressive liquids. If impurities are present in the liquid, a filter must be installed upstream.
  • Environmental Conditions: The EASY-SMALL is not suitable for use in environments with explosion hazards. The operating ambient temperature must be between 0°C and 40°C, and humidity must not exceed 90%.
  • Electrical Supply: Verify that the supply voltage does not deviate by more than 10% from the RATED DATA. Different values can cause damage to its electronic components. The EASY-SMALL can only be used with single-phase pumps.

Installation:

Preliminary Checks:

Unpack the EASY-SMALL and check:

  • For any damage.
  • That the RATED DATA matches the desired values.
  • That cable glands and screws are present.
  • That the inlet and outlet ports are clean and free of packaging residues.
  • That the non-return valve moves freely.

Hydraulic Connection:

  • Orientation: The EASY-SMALL can be mounted in any orientation, respecting the flow direction indicated by the arrow.
  • Positioning: The EASY-SMALL can be mounted directly on the pump's outlet port or anywhere along the delivery line. No taps should be installed between the pump and the EASY-SMALL. No check valve should be installed between the EASY-SMALL and the taps. However, it is possible, though not necessary, to install a foot valve or check valve on the pump's suction line.
  • Expansion Vessel (optional): The expansion vessel has a 1" BSP M thread and must be inflated, with no system pressure, to approximately 90% of the restart pressure (e.g., if the restart pressure is 1.5 bar, the inflation pressure will be 1.3 bar).

Electrical Connections:

Perform electrical connections according to the diagram provided inside the board cover. Attention: The IP 65 protection of live parts is guaranteed only if the cable glands and the board cover are correctly assembled and tightened.

First Start-up:

  • Priming the pump: For pump priming (filling), refer to the pump's own manual.
  • Attention: The EASY-SMALL is equipped with a non-return valve: do not use the EASY-SMALL outlet port to try and fill the pump for priming.
  • Applying Voltage: The red LED (Power) lights up; the EASY-SMALL immediately detects the absence of pressure in the hydraulic system and starts the pump (the green Status LED lights up). If, within 15 seconds of starting, the EASY-SMALL does not detect correct priming, it stops the pump due to a dry running anomaly.
  • Attention: For the first start-up, it may be necessary to run the pump longer to complete priming.
  • Press the START/STOP button: To restart the pump and complete priming.

Maintenance Features:

  • NOTE 1 - DRY RUNNING: This condition occurs when there is no flow and the pressure is below the pump's restart pressure (Pm), typically due to lack of water. After 15 seconds, the EASY-SMALL stops the pump and signals an ANOMALY. The EASY-SMALL automatically attempts to return to NORMAL OPERATION at increasing time intervals (15, 30, 60 minutes, and then every hour). If the EASY-SMALL detects pressure and/or flow, it returns to NORMAL OPERATION; otherwise, it stops the pump again until the next attempt. A manual attempt to return to normal operation can always be made.
  • NOTE 2 - FREQUENT STARTS: Repeated pump stops and starts occurring less than 1 minute apart. These are caused by a flow rate below 2 liters/min (0.5 gpm) and can endanger the pump. In case of system leaks or prolonged use at excessively low flow rates (below 2 liters/min (0.5 gpm)), the pump may start/stop every few seconds, endangering it. In such a case, after a time interval depending on the frequency of stops/starts, the EASY-SMALL stops the pump and keeps it stopped for the next 30 minutes to allow it to cool down, signaling an ANOMALY. After the cooling period, the pump automatically restarts. The pump can be manually restarted at any time.
  • NOTE 3 - BLOCKAGE DUE TO PROLONGED INACTIVITY: If the pump remains inactive for long periods, the mechanical seal or impellers may stick. To prevent this problem, the EASY-SMALL performs a 7-second restart every 24 hours. If the EASY-SMALL is in an "OUT OF SERVICE" state, restarts do not occur.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting table with possible causes and corrective actions for various issues, including:

  • EASY-SMALL not turning on (e.g., lack of power, incorrect restart pressure, faulty electrical connections, "OUT OF SERVICE" state).
  • Pump not starting when a tap is opened (e.g., temporary dry running shutdown, insufficient maximum pump pressure, frequent starts shutdown).
  • Pump delivering no or low flow (e.g., partial filter/pipe occlusion, check valve not fully opening).
  • Pump stopping and restarting continuously (e.g., hydraulic leaks below stop flow rate, hydraulic leaks above stop flow rate, check valve remaining open).
  • Pump not stopping (e.g., hydraulic leaks above stop flow rate, check valve remaining open).

Disposal:

For the disposal of EASY-SMALL components, adhere to the regulations and laws in force in the country where the equipment is used. Do not discard polluting parts into the environment.
