Replace the foot valve. * The water level in the well might be more than 25 feet below the pump's suction point. A deep well jet pump may be necessary. * Steel piping (if used) could be corroded or limed, causing excess friction. Replace it with plastic pipe where possible, or use new steel pipe. * Offset piping might be too small. Use larger offset piping.

Unscrew the priming plug to ensure the pump case is filled with water, re-prime according to instructions, check all suction line connections, and replace the foot valve if necessary. * If the pump has lost prime in an existing installation, unscrew the priming plug to check for water in the pump case, inspect all suction line connections and the shaft seal, lower the suction line into the water, and re-prime. If the water level is too low for suction lift, a deep well pump may be required. * The impeller might be plugged.
