What to do if my Pentair Water Pump motor will not run?

  If your Pentair Water Pump motor isn't running, there could be several reasons. First, ensure the disconnect switch is turned on. If it is on, check the fuse and replace it if it's blown. A defective starting switch could also be the culprit, in which case it should be replaced. Lastly, inspect the wiring at the motor for looseness, disconnections, or incorrect wiring. Refer to the wiring instructions to correct any issues. Remember that capacitor voltage can be hazardous, so discharge the capacitor with an insulated screwdriver if necessary, or consult a qualified electrician.

  If your Pentair Water Pump motor runs hot and the overload protection activates, it could be due to incorrect wiring. Refer to the wiring instructions to ensure it's properly connected. Another possibility is low voltage. Contact your power company to check the voltage, and if the wire size is too small, install heavier wiring, referring to the electrical section of this manual for guidance.

  If your Pentair Water Pump isn't delivering water to its full capacity, a few things could be the cause. A leaking foot valve might be causing a loss of priming, in which case you should replace the foot valve. If the water level in your well is more than 25 feet below the pump's suction point, you might need a deep well jet pump. Also, if you're using steel piping, corrosion or lime buildup could be creating excess friction; consider replacing it with plastic pipe where possible, or with new steel pipe. Finally, check if the offset piping is too small and replace it with larger diameter piping.
