Location
The 2-inch Pipe Plug, (for access to Internal Bypass
Valve), is located at the top of the Manifold.
Function
The 2-inch Pipe Plug provides access to the Internal
Bypass Valve.
Servicing Procedure
To remove the Bypass Access Plug:
WARNING
Fire or explosion hazard. Disconnect all power
to the heater and close the External Manual
Gas Valve before starting this procedure.
1. Turn off the filter pump and all electrical
power to the heater. Close the external Manual
Gas Valve.
2. If the heater is below the water level of the
pool, close isolation valves to avoid draining
the pool.
3. Open the Pressure Relief Valve to drain the
heater.
4. Remove covers or doors and panels for access
to the Bypass Access Plug.
5. Insert the Pipe Plug Tool into the Manifold
Bypass Access Plug, see Figure 2.
6. Using a 7/8” open end wrench, or an
adjustable wrench, turn the Pipe Plug Tool
counter-clockwise to open the Bypass Access
Plug. You will now have access to the Internal
Bypass Valve.
7. Reassemble the Manifold Bypass Access Plug
by reversing Steps 1 through 6 above.
[NOTE: A.S.M.E. manifolds must not be removed
from heater units since it would void the A.S.M.E.
certification.]
