MTU
This setting specifies the maximum transmission unit. By default, MTU is set to
Custom 1440
. You may adjust the MTU value by editing the text field. Click
Default
to restore the default MTU value. Select
Auto
and the appropriate MTU
value will be automatically detected. Auto-detection will run each time the WAN
connection establishes.
MSS
This setting should be configured based on the maximum payload size that the
local system can handle. The MSS (maximum segment size) is computed from the
MTU minus 40 bytes for TCP over IPv4. If the MTU is set to
Auto
, the MSS will also
be set automatically. By default, MSS is set to
Auto
.
MAC
Address
Clone
Some service providers (e.g., cable providers) identify the clients MAC address
and require the client to always use the same MAC address to connect to the
network. In such cases, change the WAN interfaces MAC address to the original
client PCs MAC address via this field. The default MAC address is a unique value
assigned at the factory. In most cases, the default value is sufficient. Clicking
Default
restores the MAC address to the default value.
VLAN
Click the square if you wish to enable VLAN functionality for the WAN connection
and enable multiple broadcast domains. Once you enable VLAN, you will be able
to enter a name for your network.
WAN > Health Check Settings
To ensure traffic is routed to healthy WAN connections only, the Pepwave router can periodically
check the health of each WAN connection. The health check settings for each WAN connection can
be independently configured.
