Overview

The Pericat S400 is a versatile jump starter designed to provide reliable power for your vehicle and other electronic devices. This user manual outlines its structure, operation, and essential safety precautions to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Function Description

The primary function of the Pericat S400 is to jump-start vehicles with 12V batteries, specifically those with gas engines up to 7.0L and diesel engines up to 5.5L. It delivers a starting current of 500A and a peak current of 1500A, making it capable of reviving a wide range of vehicles. Beyond its jump-starting capabilities, the device also serves as a portable power bank, offering two USB output ports (5V/1A and 5V/2.1A) to charge smartphones, tablets, and other USB-powered electronics. Additionally, it features an integrated LED emergency light with multiple modes, including a steady light, SOS signal, and warning mode, providing crucial illumination and signaling in emergency situations.

Usage Features

The Pericat S400 is designed for ease of use, with clear indicators and straightforward operation.

Charging the Jump Starter:

To charge the Pericat S400, simply insert the included Type-C charging cable into the USB Type-C 5V/2A Charging Input Port. During charging, the "IN" character will light up on the digital screen, and the power percentage number will flash, indicating the charging progress. Once fully charged, the flashing will stop, and the LCD display will turn off automatically after 10 seconds to conserve power. If the charger is unplugged during the charging process, the LCD display will also turn off. It is recommended to fully charge the jump starter before its first use and ensure it is above 50% charge before attempting to jump-start a vehicle.

Charging Other Devices:

To use the Pericat S400 as a power bank, plug your device's charging cable into either the 5V/1A USB Output Port 1 or the 5V/2.1A USB Output Port 2. Then, press the power button to initiate charging. The digital screen will display the charging status.

Operating the LED Light:

The integrated LED emergency light offers three modes: steady light, SOS, and warning. To activate the LED light, press and hold the emergency light button for 2 seconds. Once on, a short press of the button will cycle through the modes: steady light -> SOS mode -> warning mode -> steady light. To turn off the LED light, press and hold the emergency light button for 2 seconds again.

Jump Starting a Vehicle:

  1. Connect the Jump Cable: Plug the smart jumper cable into the Jump Start Port on the Pericat S400.
  2. Connect to Battery: Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) pole of the car battery and the red clamp to the positive (+) pole of the car battery. The smart jumper cable features a display that indicates its status, providing visual cues for normal operation or potential issues.
  3. Start the Engine: Once the clamps are securely connected and the smart jumper cable indicates a ready state, start your car engine within 30 seconds.
  4. Remove Clamps: After the car engine starts successfully, immediately remove the clamps from the car battery and then disconnect the jump cable from the jump starter within 30 seconds.

All-Round Protection:

The Pericat S400 incorporates comprehensive safety features to protect both the device and the user. The smart jumper cable provides visual and audible warnings (buzzer beeps) for various abnormal conditions:

  • Ready Mode: Indicates the cable is correctly inserted and ready for use.
  • Normal Operation: Confirms correct connection to the load or conduction.
  • Over-limit Protection: Warns if the jump starter voltage is low, suggesting a larger capacity jump starter might be needed.
  • Over Crank Attempt Protection: Prompts to disconnect and reconnect the smart jumper cable from both the jump starter and vehicle battery.
  • Relay Connection Faulty Protection: Indicates a damaged smart jumper cable, requiring it to be stopped from use and safely stored.
  • Low Voltage Protection (14.0±0.5V): Alerts if the jump starter voltage is low, recommending charging it to at least 25%.
  • Reverse Polarity Protection: Warns if the battery connections are reversed, prompting correction.
  • Short Circuit Protection: Indicates improper cable connections, requiring disconnection and reconnection.
  • Reverse Charging Protection: Triggers if the jump starter is not disconnected within 30 seconds after a successful jump start.
  • Jump Starter Overheat Protection: Signals that the internal battery is too hot, requiring the device to cool down in a cooler environment.
  • Over-Voltage Protection (17.5±0.5V): Indicates that the jump starter is over voltage or damaged, requiring it to be stopped from use and safely stored.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Pericat S400.

Charging Schedule:

It is crucial to charge the jump starter at least once every three months, even if it has not been used. This helps maintain the battery's health and prevents deep discharge, which can reduce its lifespan.

Post-Jump Start Charging:

After jump-starting a car, wait at least 30 minutes before charging the jump starter. This allows the internal battery to stabilize and cool down, preventing potential damage from immediate charging after a high-power discharge.

General Warnings and Cautions:

  • Avoid Short-Circuiting: Never directly connect the black and red clamps together, as this can cause a short circuit and damage the product.
  • No Disassembly: Do not attempt to disassemble the jump starter. Unauthorized disassembly can void the warranty and pose safety risks.
  • Child Safety: Children should not use the jump starter without the direct guidance of their parents.
  • Environmental Storage: Do not expose or store the jump starter in wet environments, near corrosive materials, in overheated or humid environments, or near a fire source.
  • Abnormalities: If the jump starter exhibits abnormal swelling, leakage, or odor, immediately stop using it and contact the after-sales team.
  • Continuous Starting: Do not attempt to start the vehicle continuously. Allow at least 1 minute between each jump start attempt to prevent overheating and damage to the device.
  • Battery Compatibility: This jump starter is designed for 12V batteries only. Do not attempt to start engines with 24V batteries.
  • Use Standard Clamps: Always use the standard clamps that come with the jump starter to ensure proper and safe connection to the vehicle battery.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure the safe and effective use of your Pericat S400 jump starter for years to come.
