Do you have a question about the Perrot P2S and is the answer not in the manual?
The PERROT P2S large area sprinkler is designed for the uniform distribution of water in irrigation systems. This manual provides essential instructions for its maintenance and operation, assuming the user has prior experience in irrigation.
The P2S sprinkler is primarily used for distributing water over large areas. Its operation relies on a piston drive system, which is powered by control water that is pre-cleaned by an internal filter. The sprinkler's rotation speed and part-circle irrigation sector can be adjusted to suit specific irrigation needs. For full-circle irrigation, the spring stops, which define the part-circle angle, must be removed.
The device complies with several CE directives:
It also adheres to harmonizing standards:
Assembly: The sprinkler features a 2½" female threaded connection. For proper sealing, hemp and a jointing compound (e.g., Fermit special) should be used. A 3" pipe wrench is required to screw on the sprinkler, tightening it to approximately 30 Nm. It is crucial not to turn the sprinkler by its jet pipe during assembly. Sprinklers should ideally be installed above head-height, or alternative safety measures must be adopted. The connection socket should be screwed on up to the detent to prevent the sprinkler from unscrewing during operation.
Commissioning: No special measures are required for initial commissioning beyond adjusting the rotation speed and the part-circle operation.
Adjustment of Rotation Speed: The rotation speed can be adjusted using a regulation screw. Turning the screw to the right decreases the speed, while turning it to the left increases it. For models manufactured from 2013 onwards, if a "K" is stamped on the speed regulation screw, the sprinkler can be completely stopped by turning the screw fully to the right. For minimal speed, clear water is recommended. If dirty water is used, the regulation screw must be fully opened to prevent the sprinkler from stopping.
Setting the Part-Circle Angle: The part-circle angle is infinitely variable and adjusted by pulling (not pressing) the relevant ends of the upper or lower spring stops. For full-circle irrigation, these spring stops must be removed. When removing spring stops, pull them only far enough to slip them off easily; overstretching them will render them unusable for part-circle operation.
Winter Proofing: During frost periods, ensure no water remains in the sprinkler. Any remaining water in the piston drive will not cause frost damage. If the sprinkler is put back into operation with ice in the piston area at approximately -20°C, it will take about 15 minutes for the drive to defrost.
Putting into Service in Spring: Due to load alterations and varying installation conditions, the piston of the sprinkler head may develop axial play. To prevent service interruptions, the piston cover should be tightened during the first and second years of operation in spring. This involves using a face spanner (ZB98236) and applying approximately 10 Nm of torque. If a safety screw is present, it must be removed before tightening the grey cover and re-screwed in afterwards. The safety screw prevents independent loosening of the grey cover. If the safety screw cannot be tightened because it hits a stiffening rib, the grey cover needs to be pulled tighter until the screw passes the rib. After the third and fourth winter, further expansions are typically not necessary.
Lubrication of Thread on Steel Pipe: When changing the main nozzle, the thread on the steel pipe and the O-ring seat should be cleaned and lubricated. This facilitates easy removal and re-insertion of the nozzle by hand.
Cleaning Filter for Control Water: The control water for the piston drive is filtered. The filter cleaning interval depends on the level of pollution and operating time. A brush and high-pressure cleaner should be used for cleaning the filter.
Cleaning Piston Drive and Piston Drive Area: If the drive malfunctions due to dirt, the piston drive must be removed and cleaned. Detailed instructions for removing the piston drive can be found in document TDP055e-rep.
