The Philips AUT3234 is an under-the-sink water filtration system designed to improve the quality of municipal tap water. It utilizes a 4-stage ultrafiltration process to effectively reduce various contaminants while retaining beneficial minerals.
Function Description:
The system's primary function is to filter tap water, making it safer and cleaner for consumption. The 4-stage ultrafiltration process targets particles, heavy metals, volatile organic compounds, pesticides, bacteria, and other pollutants down to 0.01 micron. It is important to note that this system is not a water purifier and should only be used with municipal tap water that is microbiologically safe and of known quality.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Product Name: Philips under-the-sink water filtration system
- Product Model: AUT3234
- Water Flow Rate: 2 liters/minute
- Filtration Capacity:
- CBPA filter: 4000 liters
- UF filter: 8000 liters
- CB filter: 4000 liters
- Rated Voltage: 4.5V (requires 3 AAA batteries, purchased separately)
- Inlet Water Pressure: 0.1-0.4 MPa. If pressure exceeds 0.4 MPa, a pressure relief valve is required. If pressure is below 0.1 MPa, a pressure booster is needed. These additional components must be purchased separately.
- Inlet Water Temperature: 5℃-38℃. Operating outside this range can damage the filter or system components.
- Applicable Water Source: Municipal tap water meeting European Directive on Water for Human Consumption 98/83 requirements.
Usage Features:
The system is designed for ease of use with a clear user interface and straightforward installation.
- Installation:
- The installation process involves installing a three-way ball valve, a dedicated faucet, and the filtration system itself.
- The three-way ball valve connects to the cold water supply, allowing for both unfiltered cold water and filtered water.
- A separate faucet is installed on the sink or countertop for dispensing filtered water.
- The main filtration unit is placed under the sink on a stable, flat surface, away from heat and flammable gas leakage.
- Connections are made using 1/4" PE pipes, cut to length and secured with quick connect fittings and clips.
- Before first use, all joints should be checked for leaks, and water should be run through the faucet for 10 minutes to flush air and carbon fines from the filters.
- User Interface:
- The system features a user interface with indicators for each filter's lifetime (CBPA, UF, CB) and the battery lifetime.
- When the faucet is turned on, all indicators light up to show the current filter and battery status.
- In standby mode, all indicators are off. Pressing the reset button will temporarily illuminate them.
- Filter Lifetime Indicator: A constant blue light indicates more than 7 days of filter life remaining. A flashing blue light (accompanied by beeps when the faucet is turned on) indicates less than 7 days or that the filter has reached its end of life, prompting replacement.
- Battery Lifetime Indicator: A constant blue light indicates sufficient battery. A flashing blue light (with beeps when the faucet is turned on) indicates low battery, prompting replacement.
- Reset Button: Used to reset filter lifetimes after replacement. A long press (5 seconds) initiates the reset, and short presses select the specific filter to be reset. Another long press (3 seconds) confirms the reset for the selected filter.
Maintenance Features:
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of the system.
- Routine Maintenance:
- The device housing should be cleaned gently with a wet cloth after disconnecting from the power supply; organic solvents should not be used.
- If the system is unused for more than 2 days, flush water through the faucet for at least 5 minutes to clean the filters and system.
- For extended periods of non-use, filter cartridges should be removed, sealed in plastic wrap, and stored in a refrigerator (not freezer). The three-way ball valve should be turned off, the faucet opened to empty the system, and batteries removed. Before re-use, flush water for at least 10 minutes.
- Filter Lifetime and Replacement:
- Filter cartridges should be replaced based on the filter lifetime indicator or the recommended replacement cycle for best performance. A significantly lower flow rate also suggests filter replacement.
- The system is only compatible with Philips filters.
- Filter Model Codes and Lifetimes:
- CBPA filter (AUT805): 6-12 months*
- UF filter (AUT825): 24 months*
- CB filter (AUT806): 6-12 months*
- *Actual filter lifetime varies based on local tap water quality and daily usage.
- Filter Cartridge Replacement Procedure:
- Turn off the water supply and open the faucet to drain water from the pipe.
- Turn the filter to be replaced anticlockwise and pull it out.
- Remove packaging from the new filter, insert it into the system, and turn clockwise to align the triangle icon with the lock icon.
- Turn on the water supply and faucet, allowing water to run for 10 minutes.
- Reset the filter lifetime using the reset button on the user interface.
Precautions:
- The system is for domestic use only and should not be installed outdoors.
- Handle the system gently; unauthorized modification or repair voids the warranty.
- Children should be supervised to prevent them from playing with the system.
- Do not reverse the installation order of filter cartridges.
- If the system is abnormal (leakage, cracks, unusual sounds, burnt smell, or malfunction), stop use immediately, close the water inlet valve, and contact consumer care.
- For prolonged non-use, turn off the water supply and open the faucet to release internal pressure.
