Common problems that may occur when monitoring FHR using ultrasound are listed in “Monitoring

for common problems you might encounter when monitoring FHR directly.
The following problem may occur when monitoring twins.

Problem Possible Cause Solution
is printed repeatedly, and
appears on the screen.
Both transducers are recording the same
FHR, or one fetal transducer is
recording the MHR.
Reposition an ultrasound transducer.
