DUBBING
DUBBING is the automatic copying of cassettes from DECK A to
DECK B.
You may choose between NORMAL or HIGH speed dubbing using
DUBBING SPEED selector 66.
The B DECK FADER control 6 withits pause position enables dubbing
at a lower recording level as well as ’selective dubbing’ with the aid of
the pause position: making a selection of e.g. various music numbers
from various cassettes and to record these after each other on the
copy.
During the DUBBING procedure, you may listen to the radio or to
another sound source via the loudspeakers or the headphones
without affecting the recording.
@ Switch on the set by pressing POWER button @).
e@ DECK A: press EJECT button 9 and insert the recorded cassette
into cassette holder @).
e DECK B: press EJECT button @ and insert a not-safeguarded
cassette into cassette holder @.
e Press the required TAPE SELECTOR button @, see —.
e Press DUBBING STAND BY button @: now the pressed DECK
SELECTOR button @ will be released and DUBBING indicator @ will
light up.
@ Set the DUBBING SPEED selector to position NORMAL for
normal speed dubbing or to HIGH for high speed dubbing.
e Turn BDECK FADER control @ fully clockwise to position
NORMAL, see —.
Starting of DUBBING is possible in two ways:
1. Start DUBBING by pressing PLAY /DUBBING button @): both decks
will now start running.
2. Turn BDECK FADER control @ fully anti-clockwise to the locked
PAUSE position. DUBBING will start now when turning B DECK
FADER control 69 fully clockwise to the position NORMAL: both
decks will now start running.
@ If you want to reduce the recording leve! on DECK B, turn the
B DECK FADER control @ slightly back. For a silent passage on
DECK B, turn this control to position LOW, see —.
e Ifyou want to leave out a number from DECK A, turn B DECK FADER
control 6? fully anti-clockwise until a click is heard (position PAUSE).
Now, DECK B is switched to the RECORDING/PAUSE position, while
DECK A stays running.
@ To re-start DUBBING, turn the BDECK FADER control @ fully
clockwise again.
@ To stop DUBBING, press STOP button @ and press the desired
DECK SELECTOR button @9.
Notes:
@ When dubbing, the previous recording on the cassette inserted into DECK B
will automatically be erased.
@ During DUBBING, the PAUSE @3, PLAY @} and STOP @ buttons will operate
in the normal way (on both decks simultaneously). However, the FF/CUE @ and
REW/REVIEW 68 buttons are inoperative.
e@ DUBBING is not affected by the position of SOURCE selector @, so you may
listen to the radio or to another sound source while DUBBING.
@ While DUBBING, it is not possible to add a microphone signal. However, a
mixed recording of the DECK A signal with a microphone signal is possibie in
another way, see ‘CASSETTE RECORDING’.
@ During DUBBING, the manual setting of the recording level using control @ is
not possible. The recording level of DECK B can only be reduced using B DECK
FADER control 63.
important: Copying a cassette from DECK A to DECK Bis also possible in the
normal recording mode, see 'CASSETTE RECORDING’. In this way you will have
two advantages: microphone mixing and the manual setting of the recording level
is possible.
TAPE SELECTOR buttons @
- NORMAL I for FERRO cassettes (ferric oxide Fe,Osz, IEC type D.
- CrO. i for CHROME cassettes (chromium dioxide CrO, or equivalent, IEC
type II).
- METALTI for METAL cassettes (Fe, IEC type IW).
@ For DUBBING, you are advised to use the same type of cassette on DECK B
as the one inserted in DECKA, since the TAPE SELECTOR buttons @ are
working both decks simultaneously. If this is not possible, press the TAPE
SELECTOR button corresponding to the cassette inserted in DECK B.
B DECK FADER control 6)
@ The B DECK FADER control @? enables:
- lowering the recording level for DECK B (at therewith offering the possibility
of fade-in and fade-out effects)
- switching DECK B to and out of the PAUSE position
- starting the DUBBING function, see —
e Fade-over effects are possible by turning the BDECK FADER control 6)
slightly to the LOW (or PAUSE) position (fade-out), and out of the LOW (or PAUSE)
position (fade-in).
@ To enable simultaneous monitoring of DECK A when the B DECK FADER
control @ is in position LOW or PAUSE, the sound from DECK A remains audible
at a very low level, but this sound will not be recorded.
End of the cassette during DUBBING
When during DUBBING the end of one of both cassettes is reached, bothDECKS
A and B will be switched to the STOP position.
To re-start DUBBING, turn or replace the full cassette and press PLAY/
DUBBING button @.
