Automatically Printing a Record when an Alarm Occurs
If the optional print recorder is installed in the monitor, you can configure the monitor to
automatically record and generate a printout when a physiological alarm occurs.
When automatic recording of alarms is enabled:
All alarms trigger recording, even if you have alarm audio turned off for one or more
alarms.
In patient trend display, any vital sign with a physiological alarm condition is
surrounded by a box.
When the patient record is exported, all alarm conditions are flagged in the HL7
output message.
To enable printing of a record when an alarm occurs
1 Touch the Limits button in the toolbar
The Alarm Settings menu opens, displaying the General tab.
2 Touch the Record on Alarm check box to select it.
3 Touch Done.
Automatically Setting Alarm Limits
Note
The Auto Set Alarm Limits feature is only available in Interval and Continuous
monitoring modes. For general information about monitoring modes, see “Monitoring
Mode Menu” on page 2-18.
In Interval or Continuous monitoring mode, you can quickly set alarm limits that are
based on an individual patient’s vital signs measurements. After you take an initial set of
measurements, the monitor calculates an offset and applies it to each value to generate
new upper and lower alarm limits.
If a specific measurement is not taken during the initial set of measurements—in other
words, if there is no signal for that measurement—the alarm limits for that measurement
are not changed.
Note
If the calculated offset value for any measurement exceeds the alarm limit range, the
monitor does not change the upper and lower alarm limits.
The formulas used for calculating the Auto Set Alarm Limits and the alarm limit ranges
are listed in Appendix A, “Alarm Specifications.”
