EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 4-15
Silencing, Acknowledging, and Pausing Alarms
Audio Pause Mode
WARNING
Never pause or turn off an auditory alarm or decrease the alarm volume if this action could
compromise patient safety.
Do not rely exclusively on the auditory alarm system for patient monitoring. The most reliable method
of patient monitoring requires correct operation of the monitor and close in-person observation and
assessment of the patient.
The audio control indicates the current state of alarm audio and enables you to pause
and resume audio.
When alarm audio is on, the audio control displays the green Audio On icon. You can
touch the control to pause alarm audio for a configured time period. The default Audio
Pause period is two minutes, but your system administrator can set it within the range of
30 to 180 seconds.
During Audio Pause mode, the following occurs:
The audio control displays the red Audio Paused icon.
To the left of the icon, a countdown is displayed to show the remaining time in Audio
Pause mode.
All alarm audio is temporarily turned off, including audio for alarms that occur within
the Audio Pause time period. Visual alarm indicators are not affected.
A gray Audio Paused icon is displayed in all numeric panes that have active alarm
limits.
The nurse call signal is paused.
When Audio Pause mode ends, all current alarm audio resumes. This includes audio for
current alarms that were previously silenced before entering audio pause mode.
You can touch the audio control at any time to cancel Audio Pause mode.
Global Audio Off Mode
If your system administrator has enabled the Turn Alarm Audio Off button in the Alarm
Settings menu, you can globally turn off alarm audio for the current patient session. This
option is available only in Spot Check mode—or, if configured, Alarms Off mode. It turns
off all alarm audio for all measurements. The alarm settings are reset to default values
each time you admit a new patient, change the patient type, or change the monitoring
mode.
This option is not available in Interval or Continuous monitoring mode.
