QuickAlerts Messages
4-18 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
QuickAlerts Messages
In addition to the low, medium, and high priority alarms generated by the monitor, you
may receive QuickAlerts messages, if QuickAlerts is enabled on your monitor.
WARNING
Never rely solely on QuickAlerts messages generated by the monitor. The most reliable method of
patient monitoring requires correct operation of the monitor and close in-person observation and
assessment of the patient.
QuickAlerts messages—and the patient parameters and conditions that generate them—
are preconfigured specifically for your facility or department. QuickAlerts messages
typically include the reason for the alert and any recommended actions you should take
in response. For example, a QuickAlerts message may instruct you to call the charge
nurse if the patient’s temperature exceeds the alarm limit: Temp > 39 - Call Charge
Nurse.
Depending on the configuration, QuickAlerts messages appear in a message box
(QuickAlerts Basic) or in an EWS advisory window (QuickAlerts EWS) when you touch
Save or Save Now to save a patient record, You must review the messages and touch OK
or Acknowledge to finish saving the record.
For information about EWS (Early Warning Scoring), see Chapter 12, “Early Warning
Scoring and QuickCheck Workflows.”
Notes:
• The monitor cannot be shut down if the QuickAlerts advisory window is open.
• If a physiological alarm occurs while the QuickAlerts advisory window is open, the
advisory window closes and the record is not saved. You must resolve the alarm
condition before attempting to save the record again.
Alarms Safety Information
Caution
• The monitor detects and responds almost immediately to most out-of-limits conditions, except
when averaging of the physiological signal is required to reduce unwanted noise signals or when
an SpO
2
alarm delay time is enabled. Examples of averaging include respiration rates and
measurements derived from SpO
2
signals.
• The alarm volume should be loud enough to be heard within a room or through an open door. Set
the volume based on the environment and ambient noise levels.
• For visual alarms, the side-to-side viewing angle of the display is approximately ± 85 degrees
(typical) or ± 75 degrees (minimum) relative to normal viewing.
