Changing NBP Settings
Changing NBP Settings
Use the NBP menu to:
Change the NBP source
Change the unit of measurement
Set the initial inflation pressure
Enable or disable the Auto Record NBP feature
Turn NBP alarm audio on or off
Change the NBP alarm limits
Start or stop an NBP measurement
When changing settings, make sure you follow the policies of your healthcare facility.
To open the NBP menu, touch the NBP numeric pane. The NBP menu opens with the
current settings displayed.
When you admit a new patient, change the patient type, or put the monitor in Standby
mode, the NBP Settings revert to the factory default values or the values set by your
system administrator.
Changing the NBP Source
The values displayed in the NBP numeric pane can be:
Sent to the VS30 monitor from an NBP cuff connected to the monitor.
Manually entered, if you use a sphygmomanometer not connected to the monitor.
If you select Manual Input as the source, the following occurs:
The following fields appear on the NBP menu:
- Input Systolic Measurement
- Input Diastolic Measurement
- Input Mean Measurement
After you enter the systolic and diastolic values, the VS30 monitor calculates the
mean arterial pressure (MAP) and displays the value in the Input Mean
Measurement field.
Note
The VS30 uses the formula MAP = (Sys + 2*Dia) / 3 to calculate MAP. If your facility
uses a different formula, you can enter a different value in this field.
The following fields disappear from the NBP menu:
- Initial Inflation Pressure
- Auto Record NBP
- Sys, Dia, and MAP alarm limit fields
