Manually Starting an NBP Measurement
6-12 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
Notes:
• If your system administrator has enabled the QuickNBP setting, the Start NBP
button in the NBP numeric pane appears as a Start QuickNBP button to indicate
that starting the measurement from the numeric pane, always starts a QuickNBP
measurement. You can start a standard NBP measurement by opening the NBP
menu and touching the Start/Stop NBP button.
• QuickNBP is not available if the patient type is Neonatal.
• If your system administrator has enabled the Completion Tone option, a tone sounds
when the manual NBP measurement is complete.
To manually start an NBP measurement
1 Place the NBP cuff on the patient, making sure that the cuff is also securely
connected to the monitor.
2 Start the measurement in one of the following ways:
- Touch the Start NBP button in the NBP numeric pane.
If your system administrator has enabled the QuickNBP setting, the button in the
numeric pane is a Start QuickNBP button, which will start a QuickNBP
measurement.
- In the NBP menu, touch one of the following buttons:
- Start NBP — Starts a standard NBP measurement.
- Start STAT — Starts a STAT NBP measurement.
If you are in Interval or Continuous monitoring mode, and an NBP interval is
configured, the Start STAT button is disabled. To start a STAT measurement,
you must turn off the interval setting. See “Taking Automatic NBP
Measurements Using NBP Intervals” on page 6-13.
- Start QuickNBP — Starts a QuickNBP measurement.
QuickNBP is not available if the patient type is Neonatal.
A chime sounds when the measurement is complete.
You can stop the measurement at any time by touching:
• The red Stop NBP, Stop QuickNBP, or Stop STAT button in the NBP numeric pane.
• The Stop NBP, Stop QuickNBP, or Stop STAT button in the NBP menu.
NBP values are cleared from the numeric pane as soon as the record is saved or after 60
minutes, whichever comes first.
