8-2 EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use
The Temp Numeric Pane
The following illustration shows the components of the Temp numeric pane.
Note
The text (Arterial) in the Temp numeric pane indicates that the thermometer is
calibrated to provide an arterial (core) temperature. This setting is configured at the
factory and cannot be changed.
Taking a Temperature Measurement
This section provides instructions on how to take a temporal temperature measurement.
WARNING
Ensure that the probe lens is clean and clear of any material. If the probe lens is soiled, gently
clean it with a lens wipe or lint-free swab. For further cleaning instructions, see Chapter 14, “Care
and Cleaning.”
The probe caps are for single patient use only, to prevent cross-contamination. They can be re-
used on the same patient.
Temporal probes and probe caps are for use only on the forehead and neck.
Sequential readings in rapid succession on the same patient will cool the skin. Always wait at
least 30 seconds before taking another measurement.
If the thermometer probe or monitor are not working properly when taking a temperature,
contact your authorized Philips service representative.
Note
Normal temporal temperature results are typically 1 degree higher than normal oral
temperature results (core temp vs oral temp).
