EarlyVue VS30 Instructions for Use 12-9
Using QuickCheck Workflow 5 with IGS and EWS
Using QuickCheck Workflow 5 with IGS and EWS
When using Workflow 5 with EWS and IGS, you must provide your operator ID and
password in order to open the New Patient Menu to admit a new patient. The monitor
connects to IGS and authenticates your operator ID. You then scan the patient ID. IGS
identifies the patient ID in the hospital EMR system.
After the patient is identified, you capture the patient’s vital signs as required by the
QuickAlerts configuration and provide QuickCapture observations and assessments as
required by the QuickCapture configuration.
When all vital signs, observations, and assessments are complete, you touch Save or
Save Now. The VS30 monitor analyzes the data and opens a QuickAlerts EWS advisory
window. The window displays the MEWS or SPS scoring and risk bands, along with
suggested actions, if configured.
When you touch the Acknowledge button in the QuickAlerts EWS advisory window, the
patient record—including EWS and QuickCapture data—is saved with the patient record
in the monitor and automatically sent to the EMR.
Notes:
Your system administrator can set a timeout period of 5 or 15 minutes for the
QuickAlerts EWS advisory window. If a timeout period has been configured, the
window closes automatically after 5 or 15 minutes, even if you do not touch
Acknowledge. If the QuickAlerts window closes due to timeout, the record is
automatically saved.
You can open the saved patient record to review the EWS score.
To take a patient’s vital signs using EWS with IGS and Workflow 5
1 Admit a new patient. See “Creating a Patient Record” on page 3-17. You will be
required to provide your credentials.
2 Take vital signs measurements and, if required, provide QuickCapture observations
and assessments in the Observations and Assessments menu.
As each vital sign is completed, a colored circle in the relevant numeric pane
indicates the risk band and/or EWS sub-score.
3 Touch Save or Save Now.
The VS30 analyzes the vital signs data and displays early warning scores and
suggested actions (if configured) in the QuickAlerts advisory window.
4 After reviewing the scores and actions, touch Acknowledge to close the QuickAlerts
advisory window and automatically return to the main screen.
The patient record—including EWS and QuickCapture data—is saved with the patient
record in the monitor and automatically sent to the EMR. Initially, the status indicator
to the left of the saved patient record is white. After the record is sent from the
monitor to the EMR and is acknowledged by the EMR system, the color changes to
green.
