Setting Up the Monitor
This section describes how to turn the monitor on and charge the battery.
Charging the Battery Before First Use
Philips strongly recommends that you fully charge the battery before using the VS30 to
monitor patients for the first time, because the battery may have been depleted during
storage or transport. Doing so ensures that you have a full charge should AC power
become unavailable while monitoring. In addition, fully charging the battery before its
first use promotes longer battery life. For details, see “Understanding, Charging, and
Maintaining the Battery” on page 2-7.
VGA output
Caution: Not for Clinical Use. Intended for training purposes only.
The intended use of the VGA output connector is to connect the
VS30 to a larger VGA display screen for training purposes only. It is
not intended for displaying patient data in a clinical setting or for
any other clinical use application.
The connected VGA screen displays the same content that is
displayed on the VS30 monitor screen.
Ethernet port RJ-45 10/100 Base-T Ethernet port. Used for LAN data export. See
your system administrator for more information.
Power connector Connection for the detachable AC power cord. A retaining clip is
provided to help prevent accidental detachment of the power
cord.

For facilities that require a connection for potential equalization.
